Highest paying positions
Hello fellow drivers,
looking for the highest paid positions in the World for an EU citizen with an AW139 IR license. No instructor and/or management duties, just as a line pilot. Safe operators please, I do not intent to risk my life, just to save a good sum while I do not have attachments that force me to settle.

Too many variables to answer your question..........
1.) Do you want to tour 6/6 etc?
2.) Do you want a resident position?
3.) Do benefits matter, health, education, etc?
4.) Do you have a family?
5.) Length of contract, potential non-resident status?
6.) Tax implications after contract is finished?
7.) Can you deal with extended “compound” living?
Etc, Etc
BSP would be one of the top if you want to live somewhere full time and sock away some cash. It’s great for married guys with young kids. They used to pay for University for your kids after x number of years service back in the day which was great. Not sure if that deal is still on the table under the new pay structure though? For the most part, the guys that work there are all highly skilled, qualified, educated and connected. Most have training backgrounds and are not your typical A to B Bus Drivers. You don’t get a job with BSP because of luck
I wouldn’t let the Middle East dissuade you if you are purely looking to sock away cash. I know of two AW139 pilots in the past year that have been picked up by one of the major operators over there in full resident positions. They are paid slightly higher than the BSP AW139 drivers but have much more “challenging” everyday living conditions..........think compound.
If you are good at living on the cheap on your time off some of the touring positions can get you about 60% of the way there to the big $$ resident positions. $120K USD after tax dollars is available for touring AW139 line drivers right now. Your time off burn rate will be the final factor in how quickly she adds up.
Hope this helps a bit........

I was offered a position with BSP flying the 139 a few years ago and was surprised at the relatively low salary. The whole package might make it attractive for families with accommodation and schooling provided but as a single person it just was not worth it.

Seriously, as pilots, we have to point out to the ignorant that we often do not earn our money on the easy days, maybe not even on the normal days....... I’ve heard it described as “I don’t get paid this well for what I do. I get paid this well for what I can do, and what I’ve done learning to do what I can do.” (I’d add: “and knowing what I can’t do”)
The less experienced pilots push on, when the more experienced pilots turn back. The most experienced pilots are drinking coffee in the Planning Room, wondering why anyone would take off, given the current conditions.

I understand where you are coming from too, but my comment was a jibe at the poster who suggested the salary was low. Having spent 8 years in a management role in that organisation - directly involved in the selection and recruitment of new pilors - I think I’m entitled to the odd facetious comment.

In short BSP do not pay what they used to. Also I think this person wants to stay in Europe. If you're prepared to work then yacht based equal time operations are the better pay, once you combine it with some freelance work in time off. Dubai air wing like 139 rated people, pay ok but tips are better I hear.... Offshore starting to pick up again, also some onshore corporate 139 operations in Europe quite well paid. That said the good operators are still giving type ratings to the right candidate subject to bonding afterwards but I think it's worth the effort. You can earn a salary over 120k in the UK alone so think carefully.

Hedski is correct about UK pay cyclic. I should know.

Re BSP. I interviewed for them several years ago and when I told them the salary I was earning at the time which was my expected salary minimum for a move anywhere else there was a slight pause and awkward silence. They did not advance my application further.
