Babcocks have recently taken over one of the small hangars at Blackpool to base an EC135 for servicing the offshore wind farms

Have they abandoned the idea of flying the windfarm EC135s out of Walney Island? That was the original plan

Due to personnel moving on, there is a requirement for pilots for the Oil and Gas contracts.
Simple as that.

Due to personnel moving on.....Hmmmm...

You have a secure ,fairly well paid job and yet offshore are still losing pilots from all the companies and all the bases...looks like the management need to pull their heads out of their a*%$s and start treating people right with better T&c's after the last couple of years of crap they have handed down....

Peeps, for goodness sakes, do yourselves a favour, (especially the younger guys and gals,) go fixed wing...the airlines are crying out...you won't regret it!!

You aren't wrong, Brutal, 100% agree.
In this case, however, it's guys retiring and returning to country of origin.

Looks like NHV are to replace Babcock on the Morecambe Bay gas contract.
NHV website is advertising vacancies at Blackpool on AS365N3 and AW169

Not sure they are under-cutting the wages and benefits, so maybe just more efficient and a shorter admin tail?

IF NHV replace Babcock won't TUPE apply? It did when bond replaced CHC and CHC replaced Bond. Just throwing that out there.
I suppose if its The old Dauphane it would but not new type (aw169)

Is this not a new contract - ie, the Babcock one has come to an end?
TUPE might apply if takeover during a contract - but then this is O&G so nothing is so predictable

No, it didn’t (controversially). Most of the pilots transferred from CHC to Bond, some under duress of sorts.

My mistake As it has been a long running base I made an assumption based on the engineers i knew who worked there.

It was the end of the contract when CHC moved to Bond as well. The TUPE laws do cover such transfer of ongoing operations...

The issue the pilots had last time, is that they were initially advised TUPE was effective because it was 365n to n3 .... then after about 2 months, the word came down the lawyers thought TUPE didn’t apply because n to n3 ...

The net effect is that everyone was pretty much forced to take Bond T’s & C’s at short notice - no time to negotiate or make a plan B, with only about 6 weeks to changeover. For some that was a major pay cut, for others a somewhat forced retirement on New Year’s Eve.
