AW139 ATO

Hi there
Does anybody know of an ATO which can provide ICAO(FAA) IR to EASA IR conversion on the AW139 (aside from Leonardo in Italy)?
Thank you

Are you enquiring about the initial issue of an EASA IR(H)?

I am not aware of an ATO that offers an initial IR(H) course on the AW139. Usually, an IR is conducted on a "cheap" ME helicopter such as AS355 or A(W)109

As you probably are aware, you will need to attend an ATO that is approved for the initial IR rather than one that merely adds existing IR privileges to a new type.

I wonder how the cost of this compares to the traditional 355/109 route, I am guessing its pricey

Ie far more expensive than the traditional 109/355 route for low timers.

Just to clarify, I already have the AW139 EASA Type, just need the IR ICAO conversion...

Six weeks?
for a type rating that needs four?

In that case I think you need just a Proficiency Check

Contact karen-SA, they provide all type of AW139 TR and add-on, and they are also an ATO for initial issue or conversion of IR.
With them you can also fly on the same FFS that leonardo use in Italy.

Hi Milo C
Do you have a reference for that? my EASA examiner said that as I already had the EASA CPL, he could only give me the VFR ATP/Type Checkride based on my FAA ATPL, CAA are no longer answering my questions on the subject
Thanks

TunaSandwich,

Can you confirm a few things. You are an FAA ATP with 139 experience? You also hold EASA CPL with an AW139 TR but only VFR privileges? You would like to get an EASA IR and add IF privileges to the 139 TR?

Mostly correct except that I now have an EASA ATPL with AW139 Type but no IR

How can you have an ATPL without the IR? I'm assuming you have completed all the ATPL exams and have used the IF experience required from operating elsewhere?

I believe you will find it difficult and expensive to complete an EASA IR on the 139. It's perhaps worth researching a course on a more common IR type like a 109/135/355 and timing it before your 139 PC where you can then get the IR add type?
