Heliski accident, NZ
I was following this thread on "Bravo Sierra" and read up to post number 5. In the am I checked again and there were 13 posts but it was blocked or shut down and only showed the first 3 posts. I am aware that there was a fatality involved and condolences to those involved, but I have not seen this action taken before.
Any explanations as to why this thread was shut down on "Bravo Sierra"?.

A loved family man and popular Church-goer was killed in an alpine helicopter crash yesterday on a rare outing with his mates.
This morning police confirmed the name of the deceased man as Jerome Box, 52, from Grey Lynn. The TAIC had launched an inquiry, Senior Sergeant Gavin Briggs said, and investigators would visit the crash site on Mt Alta later today or tomorrow.
Debris was strewn for almost 1km as an Auckland church group smashed into the side of a mountain aboard a helicopter yesterday, killing one and injuring six.

Five parishioners from St Paul's Church, Symonds St, were on an $875 per person heli-ski flight when it clipped the north face of Mt Alta, near Wanaka, just after noon.
Up to a dozen helicopters were needed to retrieve the dead man, confirmed by the church as Jerome Box, 52, and the injured off the 2339m peak.

I can only imagine, it deteriorated into some lame Aussie vs Kiwi slagging off session aye?
But I guess those TAIC boys will know soon enough after talking to the pilot. Shame we will not likely here the real story for some time no doubt with high profile company reputations on the line..no pun intended!

Yes so was I TimTooWindy. I think BravoSerria are scared of their own shadow to be honest.
They don't seem to like topics getting any sunlight and the truth gets deleted.

The discussion was about the number of accidents by the company and the command hours of some pilots. Nothing contentious nor defamatory, I thought: just discussing the background.

Yes I'm very disappointed at the action of the Bravo Sierra Mods. Shutting down a topic from further comment will remove it from page 1 due to the inability to post. Subject closed, not for discussion. No doubt people with friends in high places........
I replied to the "Hey Mods" post to politely say that if a topic is offensive to anybody, kindly pick another subject as everybody is entitled to an opinion. That post lasted all of 2 minutes before the Mods deleted any trace of it. I suggested renaming Bravo Sierra to "PC Sierra" or "Warm and Fluffy Sierra". Not that long ago my fellow Sierra's were prevented from commenting on new jobs that were posted which often had good/bad "Insider" information. Again, not for discussion.
I am aware the media often trawl these sights for extra information but that's the reality of the day and age we live in.
Once again, a tragic accident and condolences to those involved, but please, let the discussions continue.

Semi rigid, the digression was that instead of talking about the accident, the discussion had moved to complaining about another forum who had closed down the thread.
Have a dig a BS if you wish, but do it on its own thread, don't run off on a tangent on an accident thread.
Anyway, that's my thoughts, the Pprune mods have let this run, so they obviously don't have an issue with it.

The TAIC report is out. The AS350 was overloaded and outside the C of G. The company has tried to avoid all responsibilty by dilatory tactics with the legal system and the Charges levelled against them. I hear they did a plea bargain which indicates their first admission of responsibilty.

Would being overloaded by only 30 kgs and a CoG only 3cm out have a significant effect in terms of the performance of the machine? To be clear, I'm not a pilot, but interested to know how critical these parameters are.
