Vale Terry Summers - Industry Mentor

It is with a great deal of sadness that I post. Today a loving family has lost their father, we have lost an industry mentor that cannot be replaced, and I have lost a friend and the man I most looked up to. The world has lost a peerless aviator.

Terry passed away this morning in Australia.

Terry, the legacy you have left us with is incredible, and we miss you already.
See you up there mate.

A true gentleman. Mentor of the industry is a very fitting description. Condolences to Terry's family. :-(

That is terrible news: I had no idea that he was ill.

My sympathies to his family and to all at RotorLift.

Terry was truly one of the great people ! Utterly committed to being an excellent pilot and instructor, and totally dedicated to safety and the constant improvement of our industry.

Fly well good friend ...

This is sad, I have lost 2 mates in 2 weeks, first Foot and now Terry.

Terry was a beacon in the industry, well respected everywhere.

As someone of Terry's vintage, as an old army colleague and as someone who was there on day one of his civilian career, I too would like to add my sincerest condolences to his family, friends and Rotorlift colleagues. Terry really was a consummate professional and the ultimate quiet achiever. Much of what he has done for so many in our industry is sadly only going to come to light now that he is gone - he was never one for blowing his own trumpet.
Very few people in our industry can claim the deepest respect from the military, CASA (and its former entities) as well as his industry colleagues as Terry has done.
The speed and suddenness of his passing is a shock to us all and he will be sadly missed for a long time. He was a real good bloke and a very fine aviator.......

Amen to your comments ORH. The industry has lost a true gentleman and a passionate aviator. Just devastating.
Rest in Peace Terry, I hope there are Tiger Moths and flingwings for you to play with up there.

A colleague, friend, and great inspiration to so many over an amazing career. So many ex AAAvn and in the broader industry have so much to thank this fine gentleman and passionate aviator for. A man who gave so much to so many. Condolences and best wishes to Terry's family. RIP old mate.

In the brief encounter I had with Terry early in my career, his professionalism, instructing ability and mentoring etched an indelible mark on my persona and career development. Terry was truly someone I aspired to emulate.

Hi all,

With the permission of Terry's incredible wife Gay, the following is posted for your information:
Frank Williams has also provided permission for his contact number to be used.

Dear Friends and Family,

After an overwhelming response from the aviation industry, there will be a tribute held for Terry at Luskintyre (Airfield), in the Hunter Valley.
It will be held on SAT, 27 July 2013.

The POC is Frank Williams - 0418 683 898

Once again, there's likely to be many people outside of this email list who would also like to know. Please pass forward this email to them if you see necessary.

Looking forward to sharing wonderful memories of a life well lived.

Warm Regards,

Gay, Kyle + Renee.
