Take that deep and modest bow, Sir. An honour much deserved.

Tudor made the Master's speech last night at the Livery Dinner, and proudly announced that Her Majesty has given her approval and wish for the Guild to petition for Royal Charter in the name of "The Honourable Company of Air Pilots".

The petition for Royal Charter, in the name of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, has now been formally submitted to the Court of Aldermen for approval prior to subsequent submission to the Privy Council. It should be noted that the charter and new name have not yet been granted; there is a due process which must be followed, however, it is pleasing to be able to report that the first formal step in that process has now been taken.

Tudor, it must have been a marvellous moment to have delivered such news: congratulations

(Although it will be very difficult after so many years to avoid referring to GAPAN: when granted, HCAP will take some getting used to!)

John

It was a wonderful evening - which I enjoyed even more after I'd got my speech out of the way!

You're right, it was marvellous moment announcing the news.
Such an honour for pilots to have their profession recognised by The Queen in this way.

HCAP will take some getting used to!
Don't even think about it!
No more acronym.
The abbreviation will 'Air Pilots'.

Edit - Just as the Honourable Company of Master Mariners is always abbreviated to the 'Master Mariners', not HCMM.
(The only other Livery Company upon whom a Monarch has bestowed the title 'Honourable'.)

Tudor
