Who is Captain Alan Rose?

I keep hearing about a Captain Alan Rose who apparently is quite famous in Australia.

Does anyone have any information about him?

Cheers,

Papa68

"who apparently is quite famous in Australia"

And rightly so... a pilot held in the very highest regard by his peers.

A career spanning decades and continents, a leader in CRM dedicated to improving flight safety..... the most reassuring sound in the world is Captain Alan Rose on the Job.

Famous yes, but nothing to do with the Jayrow Rose family.

There's those who know, and there's those who don't.

You don't find out about a man of Capt Rose's calibre from Google!

I have stood so close to this aviation demigod that I could smell his musk, I breathed in deeply my friend, very deeply.

Wow!

It seems this Captain Alan Rose is the real deal - famous indeed!

When I first heard of him I must admit I thought the whole thing was a little suss as the pilot chaps I was talking to kept going on about him. As I hadn't heard of him I didn't want to pipe up and sound foolish. But it does appear he's been around a bit.

A couple of years ago, I had the good fortune to meet one Nick Lappos and found him to be both very interesting but perhaps more importantly, extremely modest given his reputation within the industry.

Given that positive experience, I'd love to meet Captain Alan Rose and pick his brain about all things helicopter related.

Anyone know where to find him?

Hey, Papa68, you don't talk to Capt Rose or pick his brain. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet pilot in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say"hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "Do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you,if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm... no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man! I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...

I have no idea what all that meant, but what I do know; is that it is extremely interesting when you meet the old timers who have gone all over the world and hear their stories. If one could only wrap up all that experience in a little ball and implant it through the eye socket....

Is this the same Alan Rose who flew with Bristow? He had a T/R gearbox failure in a 330J in the late '80s which is an interesting tale to listen to!

I have even had passengers tell me they know of Alan Rose!
All my passengers ever asked me about was wild aboriginals.

I had a policy to never let a passenger down, well, not with too much of a bump.

Is that in the same vein?
