$250K for 60 seconds of sweaty action
No, we're not talking Manhattan hookers, but the prize announced by Jeff Pino at AHS International Forum 65 for the first human-powered rotorcraft capable of sustained flight at 30 ft for at least 1 minute.
Better get peddlin'.

Man power rotary
I seem to recall that in the late 1970's, possibly early 1980s, there was a 90%completed man-powered helicopter at Biggin Hill, just outside the hangar that is now the Biz Jet centre on the south side. The rotor diameter was fairly large, I'd estimate some 45 ft or so. Anyone have any further info?
Will any of our aerodynamic experts and power formula 'whiz kids' tell us what sort of numbers need to be achieved.
Complete the 60 seconds flying and I'll bet the next prize will be One Million to cross the English Channel. Sorry ... the British Channel, with apologies to the PC brigade and our French cousins!
