North Sea Tiger;

Nice to see proper gentlemen's airborne conveyances on this site! Did my first deck landing in JL and my IR in EA.

The Puma looks like its' at St Kilda.

G-BATB

Sorry to be an 'anorak' but this aircraft was Rolls-Royce property until mid July 76, went to Ferranti in the August, for whom it is presumably working for in the picture. Was this the Bo105 that was swamped by a wave at a lighthouse pad somewhat later while it was working for Ferranti?

bluesafari,

It was indeed the one originally owned by RR, and when Ferranti was taken over by British Caledonian Helicopters in 1979 it was re-registered to them. At that time a number of Bolkows were on lease to Bond Helicopters, so this is probably one of those as flown by Speechless Two.

Handy,

Who did you do that St Kilda trip with? Got a feeling I might have been sat in the back!

Quiche baby, long time no speak!

I can't remember which of the esteemed Cap'ns it may have been, if I remember I'll have a look in the old logbook when I get back to work.

Think the Viscount was Alidair?
The Viscount is Air Anglia - I've an earlier postcard from LSI showing an Air Anglia DC3 parked on the grass (golf course for those with long memories)

Are there no more ex BEA BI jocks out there?

My old boy flew the North Sea from 67-83 but i'd be lucky if I could find 2 pictures around his place.

UKpaxman,

The paint scheme on that Viscount seems to be much more like that of Alidair and from what I've managed to research Air 'Danglia' only ever operated one Viscount which they leased from BMA in 1973 for a short time. I used to fly from Aberdeen to Sumburgh quite often in the Alidair Viscounts when I was based on the Brent in the 1970s and in the Air Danglia DC3s when I was going up to fly the Bristow Sumburgh S58Ts. I think the other airline operating them was Skyways Express?

The Viscount in that picture is certainly Alidair. I cannot recall ever seeing an Air Anglia Viscount in Shetland, but maybe I was at school that day!

Now, back to BAH/BIH. There are some nice shots of G-AYOM (EI-SAR) in another thread!
