A pilot's meal
I fly charter in Mildura and one of my favourite destinations is the Trentham Estate Winery. They provide a free lunch for the pilot ...
There's a steak under that gravy somewhere.
What experiences have other charter pilots had at venues in regards to meals? Not all good I'm sure.

Not charter, I know, but I once gave up my weekend off to fly a Navy Sea King display at Southend Air Show. The aircrew party laid on to reward us for our (unpaid) efforts consisted of 1 small hot dog, served in a nightclub, where the beer was priced at about double what we would have paid in a pub. Cheers, Southend Council! I didnt volunteer for any more Airshows after that!

Sat in a sodden paddock in Sussex in February for 3 hrs (back in 20 mins!) and was not offered a cup of tea when I finally knocked on the door of the rich ****'s house to warm up.
Caviare and canapes i(sadly declined the Bolly) in customers house with all the pax pre departure for Ascot.
Smorgasbord.
Many stunning buffets in hospitality suites at Donington Park, Brands Hatch etc.
Amoebic Dysentery & Salmonella together.

Bovril and dripping sarnies - often!

St Barts in the French West Indies has to be the best so far for me, amazing food(not free, but good value) a great beach at the end of the runway and a fun approach!
Ellwood is a close second with the best bacon and egg sandwich though!

Used to fly for Helicopter Seychelles, and when landing at some of the resort islands there we would go to the restaurant and order what we wanted off the menu...all free. That was easily the best part of working for that company.

EMS, in the US- Hospital food, sometimes free, sometimes discounted, still hospital food.
Gulf of Mexico- Tremendous variety.
Flew lunches to hands in the field once, which they opened and immediately emptied over the side. Back at the quarters, I shut down, went to the galley, loaded up and sat down. One of the hands looked at my tray, "I didn't eat that stuff."
"I like pea soup, not everybody does."
"That's not pea soup, that's chicken and dumplings."
My next contract flew crawfish out twice a year. Cajuns can eat some 'mudbugs, yeah." A TwinStar full up with gunnysacks of crawfish, corn, taters and onions, would feed 8-10 guys.

My fav was always a Clyde special in the mornings, a FULL english with 2 of everything. The worst has to be the old camp cook, deep fried everything including the broccoli and salad !!!! True !! Great for the aircrew medicals

Asked for a hot meal once and got a colslaw buttie...nothing else just colslaw...followed a couple of days later by a BLT but due to a lack of Lettice it became a BCT the C standing for Cabbage...raw!!!mmmmmm

Flying a plain vanilla Bell 206L-1 through lunch one day in the GoM, called ahead to the platform and asked for a sandwich or something.

Once got a Bacon and egg roll with marmalade on it from a North Sea Rig. Quite interesting. Fellow pilot had asked for plain toast for his Marmite. Sadly they put toast and marmalade in the same packaging as the egg rolls. Would have been a waste to leave it and I was starving.
