Guimbal Cabri G2
Hello H500,
Sure, the fact that you're commercially operating 3 H300 in a country where the number of G2 is increasing very quickly has nothing to do with your curiosity !

hoppefully, you've changed few words in your last need of curiosity 7 months ago

Is it my imagination or are there rather a large amount of accidents for the number produced, I was told 4 weeks ago that 11 out of about 100 had gone down, with these 2 that would make an attrition rate of 13% I know that it is a small sample but.
Comments please and I am not bashing the machine just curious

Anyway, that's a good question (as all the questions about safety) and with the number of G2 flying now (more than 100), it will be easier to compare this year the accident figures and rate with the H300 (just by curiosity

P.S : the video is very impressive
.

What's so impressive about a burning helicopter?
Found another one:

Botched autorotation.
That makes 17

Not trying to be nasty here but just seems to be a lot happening with them. I am a big fan of the machine but makes no sense for me to buy or run them when I have $700k of spares for my 300's and I run 500's which are a 300 on steroids !

You already know what I'm thinking about your (reasonable) choices and I can't argue your true comments !
(and always happy to hear that you're a big fan of the G2).

Well Hughes500, it might make sense to sell your 300's with spares for a profit to somebody desperate and buy Cabri's.
I do not know about the service quality of Guimbal, but it can hardly be worse than Sikorsky.

Depends. Shelf life isn't infinitive for many parts.
Wonders happen. Lockheed might see a point in good service and parts availability. Or they just kill the 300 for good.

It is very impressive how HH "bites" whoever dares to write something about the Cabris which is not blissfully positive...
On a French website I've even been censored after having simply said that the rotor head of the Cabri is somewhat low compared to a R22 (I've hit a blade with my head while walking toward the cockpit on a uneven surface).
Oh, I also tried to say that the power/weight ratio of the Cabri and R22 are very close.
Is it only me or is there some people acting more like commercial agents on some websites?
This being said, there is a video showing a Cabri on fire, this, at least, cannot be hidden.

@Claudia
It was definately not a hard landing!!
The pilot was able to land the aircraft and left it without any injuries.
The blades are hanging due to the fire.
If it would have been a hard landing the landing gear and / or the tail boom would have suffered.

evil7, Thanks for the info.
So, it did not have to crash to go on fire like the robbos,
it burst into flames in flight !! If thats the case very concerning indeed.
Glad to see the pilot got out safely.

At least 130 Cabris now.
1140 left Aix on delivery today, and should arrive UK tomorrow at Wycombe Air Park.
1141 departs for the UK tomorrow, expecting to arrive Thursday.

@claudia
Please do not exaggerate the incident.
The helicopter did not "Burst into Flames" in flight. It caught fire - which is bad enough - and then, after the landing, the fire got bigger and engulfed the whole aircraft due to the lack of available fire fighting equipment at the landing site. The pilot conducted a controled landing under power.
So please stay realistic.
Always happy landings
