Interesting job today, putting work platforms on top of Cooling Tower 4 at the Loy Yang Power facility in the LaTrobe Valley. We had to abort a couple of days ago, with the wind out of limits, but today was nice and calm
I prefer my job to the riggers working up there for the next fortnight Then we have to take it all down, which should be a darn sight easier

Flying Bull re the Gazelle watercolour:
It was painted by a chap called Fred Brown who was the father of junglie pilot Peter Brown. I know because I have one of his gazelle pics which he did specifically for us. As far as I know his paintings were all one-off originals and all bl**dy good.
As for the story about the accident and the black gazelle, I'm not sure.

Hi Juan,
yeah, the painting is great, I bought it on my wings parade and it´s an eye catcher, when entering my house.
Not quite sure if I have a picture of the black Gazelle - but I saw it with my own eyes - looked really great :-)
Greetings Flying Bull

G-UTZY was sold a couple of years ago.
Ascot Heliport 2003. Photograph by Michael Rice.
The new owner, a businessman who could never be accused of being modest about his wealth, re-registered it as G-OLDH
probably to match his Bentley registered as D GOLD.
I wonder if he's got gold taps in his house?

'cos the last pilot used a longer line, and spent ages trying to get the platform in place! The outward slope of the cooling tower made for a bit of 'needle threading' getting the legs on correctly, as the platform could only go on one way. The construction of the thing required it to be put on from the outside, against the slope: I had more control with a shorter line, especially when the load spun and had to be nudged around to line up
