Been to Hintlesham hall lots of times - very nice and great value. PPR so it can close the road with a marshall! Land in front of the building (western side) and if approaching from the east, give the golf course a wide berth (immediately behind the hotel)

Hintlesham Hall.

I was that man who had the Sunday roast! Very good indeed.

Golf course (guarding the east) and major power lines (running along the NW edge) to watch out for. Large field to the West for an approach but sometimes has a tall crop in it so you'll need power for a high hover.

HLS nr Harwich?

Anyone recommend a HLS (or Hotel with HLS etc) near Harwich, UK?

The airfield at Great Oakley aren't allowed heli's due to planning permissions.

Thanks.

HC.

I've landed at Lakeside Park before (only once) - very friendly. Lakeside Park Hotel & Spa, Isle of Wight 4-star hotel, in Wootton, Ryde, Hampshire, UK for Isle of Wight spa breaks, conference venues, seminars, weddings and private functions

The Britten Norman boss still let's people land on the 'H' which is on the bembridge field, but a fenced off area of around an acre immediately adjacent to the club house building on the north of the runway... I don't have contact details but was given permission to land there with blind calls 2 days ago with no landing fee, they also have CCTV. I phoned someone at Sandown who called the boss for me

Alternatiely PM me and I have the number for a farmer who will lend you his field approximately 0.5nm south of cowes for £50 per landing... a little steep, but if it's of use?

Bembridge

As Simon mentions above, you can still land at Bembridge if you contact Vectis gliding club. Landed there a month or so ago no problem. No fuel available though.

I recommend the Raemoir hotel, North of Banchory VRP, Aberdeen. Stayed Friday to Sunday for a wedding. Good food and no landing fee.

Guys

Avoid Coed-y-Mwstwr hotel near Bridgend, in Wales.

I telephoned this morning to ask if I could drop one of my staff there rotors running who had been called down urgently to attend to her terminally ill mother undergoing care in a local hospital.

They wanted £75 to land. When I re-iterated my purpose, and explained that I was in fact travelling down from Manchester and the trip was costing me a considerable amount of money and I expected to be on their property for under 60 seconds, (or alternativeley that I would land and have lunch) they were still un-relenting.

In the end I chose to land at Cardiff heliport although I was tempted to simply put down in a field and offload my passenger.

Have good feedback on The Elvetham Hotel. Flew there recently for lunch with the family. No landing fee, no problems and good service.

Note that it's in the overlap of airspace between Odiham and Blackbushe. I was initially on Farnborough Radar who then passed me to Blackbushe Tower. If on westerlies, you'll be very near the Blackbushe circuit when coming in to land at the hotel.
