Portsmouth, Hampshire landing sites?

The Griffin directory lists the hotel at Port Solent at £75.00 - any other suggestions, for an R44? Need to get to Gunwharf Quays, right in the centre of the harbour area.

Pretty much impossible. And doubtful that the CAA would give permission for Port Solent - unlicensed in congested area etc. I believe the police ASU still control part of Lee on Solent airfield. Or you could ask Atlas Helicopters.....

Some constructive googling and I came up with David Horne on 023 92324553 of Fort Widley Riding School, and the charge is £25 for the day. Six miles to the centre of Portsmouth. It's about as close as you can get before you hit the congested area of Cosham which is on/S of the A27/A3

St Mawgan isn't a million miles away.

aa,

Your link points us towards this post:

"I can recommend Burgh Island near to Plymouth. Fantastic hotel, great little pad and no landing fee. Paid 50 to land in the car park next to Padstow for Rick Steins but they did look after us and provide security for the heli so can't really complain."

Is there a typo in there? (Because Padstow obviously isn't very close to Plymouth.)

JCR - the para also says this:

Paid 50 to land in the car park next to Padstow for Rick Steins* but they did look after us and provide security for the heli so can't really complain."

*Rick Stein = the owner of all things commercial in Padstow. Google gives 23,100 pages listing the phrase "Rick Stein Padstow"

landing sites near Stoke on Trent?

Anyone know of any landing sites near to Stoke? I have looked in all the usual places but there seems to be a lack of advertised places to land.
Thanks in advance

There's a gliding club at Seighford which is near enough but far enough away, if you knew Stoke as I do.

Seighford only let you in if related to gliding activities.

Holiday inn don't accept heli's anymore....health & safety!!!

tried a whole heap of other hotels but no success.

Britannia stadium, unfortunately will be on match day...1000 people, exemptions, security etc

thanks anyway

Portsmouth/Solent HLS

used to use the playing fields just east of motorway spur....or the cricket pitch which used to be where Bristow flying school taught baby helicopter pilots - talk to Hamble parish council. You land and deposit cheque in post box of town hall - excellent spot for harbours.

Edinburgh?? Addiston or Leith?

Hi all,

I am planning to take an R44 up to Edinburgh next weekend, so does anybody know anything about Addiston? I would like to get in touch with whoever operates it to find out if I could park the heli there overnight. Otherwise, I am considering using Leith heliport if I can get permission from the Ports Authority...although I am slightly nervous about the approach and departure over all that water!!

Oh, and while I'm at it...any recommendations for fields / helipads / landing sites around or near Manchester?
