Ok, here's a challenge for you PPruNer Rotorheads. Camp Freddie has posted details of the film (post 15).

I wonder if someone can track down a copy of the film and find out who the real pilot was (maybe listed in the closing credits). Is he/she still alive and what have they done since? Maybe they will do an interview for PPrune?

Judging by the amount of traffic and people, I'll bet they made it on a Sunday morning. It reminds me of Blue Thunder and the chase scenes shot in downtown LA between the buildings.

AAAAHHHHH! the music is really............ !"&"*#%"%#""& and it must have been a factor making the pilot go nuts. Fun flying it seems and the tunnel stunt looks fun.

Back then people had another view on things so lets not criticise to much.

The H269 salutes its 50th birthday this year, I can't remember which date excactly but it really doesn' matter anyway. I have one of those machines and it is great!

Just go to itunes.com and search for "Roberto Carlos" - you can find and hear short free samples of many of his songs.

It's amazing the ways that you can discover new music - a helicopter video!

Cheers for the link B73, alas I still can’t get the video to work. I suspect as it’s a You Tube link you need You Tube’s own media player to watch the video, so I’ll have to track that down and give it a spin!

I've just tried it myself again and it does require a bit of fiddling to get it to work.

When the file downloads, change the file extension to '.flv'. Then download this free FLV player (download.com link), play the file and then Robert should be your Auntie's live-in lover!

A bit of fun, certainly. However having once, many years ago, found myself flying under big wires (actually, being flown) in freezing fog, over water then spotting another set beneath us, it tends to bring back the bad dreams........

that machines a b model 300 not a c model as it has got a shark fin type vert stab not a larger stab like the c models have , so yes they have been around for awhile . . . not a bad video!!!!!

Excuse me while I peg my anorak up, did you know the TH55 first flew in October 1956.
But this is typically the sort film that first got me fired up about helicopters as a little lad in the mid 60’s

OK - so there's all the talk of who was it, when was it done all interesting stuff etc. BUT I have two very basic questions, one relating to the original rule 5 question, one my own.

1) Given the nature of the swimwear worn on the beaches in/around Rio, and the quality of the erm... Ladies/Guys (and others not covered by the former categories) - Who is going to notice a helicopter flying low and be bothered for long enough to report it?

2) It's always bothered me to know if it really can be done to fly through a tunnel given the airflow. Obviously Mission Impossible through the Channel Tunnel was pure CGI, Itallian Job MD leaning at 45' in a hangar and not zooming forward - NAH! But given a sensibly big enough (but not dwarfing the helicopter) tunnel and a skilled pilot, flying fast enough so that it's nearly all coming from in front?? That clip did look quite real - for early camera trickery, but the RHS skid seems to be brushing the floor.
I am genuinely interested to know if it would be feasible to fly through a tunnel. Anyone actually done it/seen it done - as opposed to a mate of a mate....
