ROTORHEADS AROUND THE WORLD: Videos
Not highly exciting, but my first attempt with a go-pro... more will follow as I develop the knack no doubt.

Bushfires are a big worry around Victoria at the moment: East Gippsland yesterday evening, western flank just creeping along with a big wind shift this morning, gusting 35+ kts:

Certainly not extreme for a Robinson, which like all certified helicopters are able to fly in crosswinds of around 14 knots and EOL's at AUW and @ Fwd edge of CofG.
However glance at the windsock past which the aircraft went in take off mode then in reciprocal direction in auto rotation landing may deem the intelligence of the pilot to be anything but "extreme"
The fact that he was practicing auto with three up also indicates an 'extremity' of his dimwittedness, as usually such practice with more than one crew is legally limited to two, one of whom must be a check pilot.
He doesn't know it but the only thing that saved his landing was that because of his fwd C of G he required a greater angular displacement of the rotor disc to arrest the nose down attitude, which gave him an easier deceleration in both Vertical and forward speed.
Had he been light up front he may well have skated way past the camera before plopping on the ground and giving the U/C an "extreme" workout.
Yes-sir perhaps a pilot to stay away from, irrational and unpredictable and unsafe WRT to wind direction control.
cheers tet

Must be sort of blue screen video post-processing,...
Where is that camera boom
Where is that camera boom
I dont know how they made it, but with all the reflections in the windows a blue screen is not probably.

Any chance of any Rotorheads tooling around Sydney Harbour this Easter Sunday (Tomorrow) with video and still cameras? Just read a report that UAE and Qantas will be doing a formation flypast of the coat-hanger at 1500', 10.30 AM.
A photo or video of two birds that size, A 380's, from front on hanging over the pylons would be smicko. The occasion is to celebrate the beginning of their partnership.
Knowing Sydney Control as a bunch overly controlling freaks the only clearance available may be from a water borne yacht.
