Don't know the rumour, but from the Telegraph;

Over the next few months, as he always does, Owen will make the best of things. The consummate professional, he will train hard, find temporary accommodation nearby, so as not to exhaust himself in the commute, and will doubtless score goals.
Source

With the commuting plan, as football is a 'bad weather sport' seasonally, and as this is in the Rotorheads forum, I would think the alternate plan, according to my version of AutoRoute, would involve a commute from Concha Espina 1, 28036 Madrid to NE1 4ST of 1346.6 miles which would take 2 days 4 hours and 54 minutes-ish.

He may well be better than Beckham in George Bests eyes, but somehow I can't see any club putting up with that kind of plan!

But with their kind of money......why not Eh?

SS

p.s. Perhaps not a Rotorhead topic!

You do realise that Owen has moved to Newcastle Untited Football Club, dont you? My question would then be directed to flying from his house-in GREAT BRITAIN, to his NEW club in newcastle.

The charter is already booked.

Apparently he will fly up twice a week and stay in accomodation paid for by the club, they are also paying for the helicopter.

What will he do with all his own money?

I did, but I didn't realise that he kept the gaff in Wales.

Apparently Shearer will be putting him up for the time being and he is now house hunting in Newcastle.

By the way, "In the meantime, he has decided against commuting by helicopter."

Who is Owen

A bit like saying 'Babe Ruth?'

Seriously though, he's a small, hometown scouser (Liverpool), who is phenomenal in the skills of playing soccer - the only player who literally ran circles around the Argentinians and Brazilians.
You have heard of the Argentinians, I think the Yanks stopped buying spam from them as a nation back in the early '80s:-)

Owen buys AS365, starts PPH training

...according to the Telegraph. 'Course, having just broken his foot he'll have to wait a while before he can use the pedals. Either that, or he'll be doing left turns over the field all day...

Anyone ever trained from scratch on a Dauphin ?

Ah, bless..

He hopes to obtain his own licence within the next two years. But before that, he will have to accrue more than 35 hours of flying time.
Once he has his basic licence he will have to sit more exams and tests before he is allowed to fly his more advanced twin-engine Eurocopter.

Given the tough exams and hours of study required to pass the flying tests, however, it is unlikely that Owen and Ferdinand will start a trend among millionaire footballers.

Apologies for the sarcasm...

Let the debate ensue.

According to the Times... "I read somewhere yesterday that I am meant to be taking helicopter lessons, which is news to me."

Re: Owen buys AS365, starts PPH training

Hang on....in the UK...he cannot learn to fly in the Dauphin can he? The Aviation Mafia requires one to learn on single engine helicopters then later progress to twins....or am I mistaken here?

In fact....don't they get a bit huffy over someone wanting to buy an MOD surplus Gazelle and start his learning process in that machine?

Now the question of the week for the Licensing types here....TRE's included...CFI's as well.....If I have the money to buy a Bristow surplus Tiger ....why should I not be able to have someone teach me to fly from scratch with my personal machine?
