Arrow Simon Green's Funeral (Kiwi pilot killed in 205 Crash)

For those that are interested over 1000 people said farewell to Simon Green in the NZ Warbirds Hangar at Ardmore Airfield in South Auckland today. It was a hell of a service and one befitting an icon of the Kiwi helo industry.

The gathering was like a whose who of the industry and I think one of the greatest highlights of the day, if I could really call it that, was the escort provided to the hearse as it carried Simon's coffin away from the airfield. Grant Ward and Alan Beck in Bell 204s hovered in formation in front of the hearse as Simon was placed in the car.

They then escorted the hearse from the airfield, one 204 on each side of it. That bought a lump to many a throat including mine. A fitting tribute to a friend.

(To all those helo pilots out there, take a minute to reflect on those unique qualities that make you all so unique from us who are ground bound, and be thankful for each passing day).

Simon, rest in peace my friend
