Lost that before the cancer, although I did revel in the position etc. Our profession is full of it and I was as guilty as anyone else; although it's still almost a qualification. But MT's post was definitely uncalled for, after all what's wrong with a bit of nostalgia ? A lot of people went through the Nigeria thing and in a lot cases it made better pilots and more rounded and worldly people of us.

Hey guys I am really enjoying your posts having never experienced Nigeria. Anyway, your memories are a lot more interesting than reading about accidents, regulations and Anfis SE. Campaign. Keep it coming and maybe you should put your collective memories together and write a book......before it's too late and all lost in the ether of time.

In some ways it's already too late to write about some of the history. A friend of mine now 68 is the last survivor of four friends who worked in the Far East. We are talking about the 1970's so first hand stuff from the 50's and 60's is probably thin on the ground. However PPRUNE could be the perfect forum. So how about a sticky thread "Swing a lightshade and pull up a sandbag" where you can tell your helicopter tales without boring the general population!!!!!!!

So many of the yarns would have to be put into a "Fiction" section as a lot of people would refuse to believe they were true.

New Shell R/W Aircraft ?
Have SCIN (Shell Companies In Nigeria) have sold off their EC155Bs ? The Dorniers they had previously sold were rotting away in the graveyard at MMIA when I left Nigeria.
If the 155s have now been disposed of what rotary aircraft are they using these days ?

I did hear something to the effect that the 155s are with another potential operator (rumour ! ! !) Regarding the Dorniers, I have seen them operating since they were moved off the big apron, not seen them for a little while but that might mean anything, what were the registrations?

That rumour was why I asked the question; I have heard they were bought by a "new kid" on the O & G helicopter support block with a biblical name that anyone who went to the cinema or fancied some fast food in P.H., Calabar or Lagos will be familiar with. They also have a large shipping and freight business.
Must have a lot of money to take such a big step in the middle of a recession ?
Personally I can't recall the registrations of the Dorniers, props or jets. But chuks will see this and he flew them so hopefully all will be revealed..........

The Dornier turboprops were 5N-SPC and -SPD, The jets were 5N-SPE, -SPM, and -SPN.
I got a nibble from someone local about flying the jets, but never heard back from my first reply. I think they had me confused with SASless, one way or the other.
