Colin,
As far as I know, all their S76's are Heli Union ships.
Also heard they have a high rate of turnover for expat engineers.
My advice, stay where you are, there are worse places out there.

Rumours (Yeah, you got it) say that most of their pilots are "ready to jump off"......

Does that mean anything....? (anyone?)

I'd heard that a few of the HU pilots had bailed, too.
Obviously not paying enough to justify the hassles.

Question

Because of problem with AW139 it looks that Caverton deliveries are delayed. One rumour is that Shell may delay by some months the delivery and is even thinking of having an rethink altogether about the type. Caverton have already start to send pilots on course in Italy, but if there is big delay the pilots may forget what have learned.

What is this story about Caverton saying they have overpaid staffs, so are giving a 20% pay cut? If true this won't make people happy

Thumbs up The Future is Indiginous in Naija

Well, I have seen so much of nonsense, I can only speak as I find. Caverton is a good company who pays good money, much better then Bristow. It is an indigenous company and will continue to do better than Bristow because of this and because they treat national pilots with dignity and equality and much better than Bristow. The opportunities are much better and not governed by some old colonialists with some kind of hidden agenda. Yes, there is many expats in Caverton for now, but they have to start somewhere and is offering much better money and equality to Nigerian pilots than Bristow now. Bristow has started the 419 of separation of PAAN, but noone is fooled by this attempt to make it seem they are a separate entity and an indigenous company like Caverton. All the managers of PAAN is just South African who will entirely fill the company with all their old SAAF buddies like they always do .
Bristow is losing all its good people whether Nigerian or expatriate because they are starting to see through the lies and see that Caverton is emerging as the premier company of Nigeria. It started slow, but now has good managers and is getting more good people as well as winning good contract. Yes, Bristow will always say this is just 419, but they need to look at what they have and what they offer. They still have to much baggage from the days of the majah who has influenced those who are coming after him. Why are so many people leaving Bristow? Of course they will say it is because of unfair practise, but really it is because Caverton is paying more and even more so because more people can see that caverton is the future. Why are so many Bristow people here if not for a better life and a better future - we have not bin kidnaped
Bristow is so scared it is now paying bribe to nationals it thinks are ready to desert to Caverton . My brothers, take the bribe first, then come to the future of Nigeria. Inidigenous company is the future. Caverton has always been owned by indigenes, Aero has finally thrown off the imperialist yoke. Our day has come and even if Bristow may continue to make some small gain, the writing is on the wall. You are all welcome

Thumbs up Aero- the Phoenix

JABAG,

Yes, now Aero has banished the Canadians who almost brought them to their knees, they are emerging like a Phoenix from the ash and given time and luck will emerge as the only competition to Caverton . They have a beautiful SA365 restored to the glory of the original Aero colors and soon the EC135s and S76 C+ will be arriving in Nigeria.
After their arrogant ways and failure to bankrupt Aero, CHC has now gone on to partner Nigerdock, but Jagal is no Nigerian and they will just be screwed same as Bristow and Shell were. As long as CHC has the same people in charge they will never get any where. Anyway, they are not an indigenous company and the days of such alternative companies are finally drawing to an end . Naija now has the money that local companies can buy modern helicopters and we have enough pilots and engineers with the skills and experience to manage our own companies at a level the equal or better than foreign companies who just want to bring in pilots who are not as well qualified as our own and take the money out of our country. Its time the government took over the funding of more Naija brothers and sisters being trained as pilots and started looking at Zaria and the new flying school in Kwara State benefitting from federal funds to train our own pilots and engineers

Having worked for Caverton for a short time I can only say that I had no problem with them and found them better than many foreign companies.

Devil

RunFartTie Dyed,

joining numbered dots together
... have you been looking at my CV? When I started my Masters of Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that was one of the first tasks we had to master . Which Seff Affriken university did you graduate from .

There are many unhappy people in Bristow today when they have learnt that if you desert the company and return some few months later you will get a special loyalty bonus of $1500, but if you stay, you can get a special bonus of nothing, unless you are an expert swimmer after many months of practise on night standby. There are also special reward for failure and shouting loudly.

I know how to design and build a bridge - do you . If your attitude is typical Bristow you will be standing on the bridge when it collapse and I will be on the floating pontoon bridge sailing on to a better life. Have fun - and wear your lifejacket, always

Caverdop..would my point be better understood if it had been said so..........

I wish you luck with your new company, I really do. More pay for less work is a definate attraction for anyone (I never got the call) but change jobs, put the new uniform, get on with the job and make a success of it...but don't belittle yourself with talk of Imperialism and "our day has come" LutherKingisms - it makes you sound a tad childish.

I wonder who would have paid for your PilotTraining if there hadn't been a "BristowCloneCompany" to do it for you???.

That's true, but is more pay for the same work so a definite plus . With Bristow crewing problems, giving less pay for more work because the company wants to always crew with too few people and under-resource to increase profit, do you think this is safe? Where is your much vaunted Target Zero?

I wonder who would have paid for your PilotTraining if there hadn't been a "BristowCloneCompany" to do it for you???.
I guess you never heard the self-improver route then . Bristow is to be very much commended for its sponsored cadets scheme and Caverton has certainly taken some of them, but realises the true worth by not just the paying of a fair salary, but offers the same work roster for national as for expartriate. My dad started me on my training, but I helped out by working to support myself during my training - did you? Who paid for your training - rich daddy or a military? For you maybe the rajah days were too good, but not so good for the nationals who were only ever to be allowed to have limited goals in the Nigerian part of international company. Captain Oni broke that mold, but now has to toe the line of the puppeteers in Houston

Good luck also with your company, but you need to look to the future, wake up and smell the coffee. Unless Bristow face the new reality its future is not to carry on expanding, but to become a bit-player. This country is still suffering from years of previous military rule, our democracy is fragile, but give us time. we are changing, we have always had people with brains, but middle class is emerging. We have a lot to learn, but we will take charge of our own destiny as we slowly grow up. It is Bristow who need to wake up to the changing face of Nigeria. CHC never did and see what happen to them and the company they nearly ruined? Aero is not really a Phoenix as i said, the company you see now is not renewed, it is new, taking charge of its destiny. It will surely make many mistakes, but it and Caverton are the new face of aviation in Nigeria.

Maybe you have a disregard for Martin Luther-King, but he was a man who won the Nobel prize and changed the lives of many people profoundly. Would you be happy if all the major companies in your country were foreign and Nigerian, sending much of their profit back to Nigeria and offering better pay and conditions to Nigerians than to its indigenes? I welcome foreigners in my country, but want to see everybody offered the same pay for the same work. Can you say that is the case in your company?

When one takes a pay check from the Boss Fellah....one does what the Boss Fellah says....or one finds himself looking for a new Boss Fellah.

Knowing Oni as well as I do....he is no puppet!

He is one very bright, personable, and capable Man.

So if you were trained as a helicopter Pilot by the military, you must never express any views on the military ever. Right? Come on.

Thumbs up

Don't listen to glom merchants saying Shell is cancelling the AW139, they know it is a helicopter with great potential for the future. Soon Caverton will have delivery of its first AW139. Yes this helo has had many initial problems, but tell me one on the oil patch which hasn't. It is modern and the future, unlike the S76 whose new model is the D (or dead duck ). Caverton has recently employed some pilots who were Bristow in the old days on Shell but now has experience of operating AW139 in the Middle east. Also we have an agreement with Gulf Helicopters (whose operations director was also Bristow) and Nigerian pilots are already on loan to them building experience ready for AW139 operations start up.

Caverton will soon also start to take over the fixed wing operations in Cameroon and Chad from CHC and Captain Charles, our deputy Ops Manager will be going to run it. He was there before flying both fixed and rotary wing for Schreiner so knows the area and the operation very well

Bristow had a wonderful bonus scheme (scheming was involved a lot in bonus award ) which has upset lots of people. I heard one expatriate copilot even was awarded $1500 for loyalty even though he left the company and only just came back a few months (even tough the rules for bonus were min 1 year with the company). Wonder which country he was from .

Aero will soon have more helicopters on contract and will soon be operating EC135s for NNPC. Just wait and see how in 2 or 3 years it will be Caverton and Aero who is dominating the helicopter market in Nigeria. This is the new story people, the birth and early years of a truly Nigerian helicopter industry

It is good to see that in Cavertop we have a gifted guardien of grunge, a spokesman for sleaze un vrai champion de corruption . Is Charles still a pompous person who is always right . His chief in Caverton is the former deputy of the person who was brought in to be his chief in Aero. Charles is very bright but only have interest in his opinion.

Despite all I have said, Nigeria have not changed and will never changed, so Cavertop is absolutely correct and Caverton and Aero are the new future because Bristow has changed and Caverton and Aero are the old (new) Nigeria . At least Aero have a history of integrity under the old regime to build on
