Smell Management - a Nigerian with a sense of humour
Where is he having this movement? Surely in the Presidential jet his 'movement' should be contained within the presidential privy Maybe the Presidential flight is now contracting out all VIP flying to the well-known Arik and Caverscam competitor, Yorkshire Airlines, with their pooperb facilities
Yorkshire Airlines facilities
... and your point is
Possibly if you ask Smell in the Vague to provide you with a smelling and grammer checker, we'll know what your point is
Meanwhile, all airports will continue to close whenever the so-called President or any of his close kleptocrats have a 'movement'. I hope Smell realise that in Nigeria nobody gives a flying copulation about JAR Ops, we have In Car Ops now, very closely all eyed with FAR operations. This far off operations is the really reason Nigeria now has Class One with the FAR off flights to USA I'd advice [sic] you to keep up
Closure of MMIA due to a Presidential movement over the city is commonplace.
Yorkshire Airlines facilities
not all Nigeria politicians and corrupt

Shell M,
At no point did I mention Nigeria. We all know that Nigerian politicians are squeaky clean. I was referring to the all the other African politicos who sometime break the rules.
If only they could all be as transparent as Nigerian MP's then the African continent would be a democratic showcase for the world.

Sounds like a real shifty bunch to me!
I know Bill Clinton tied up air traffic in Californina for a couple of hours while he got a "haircut".....with the legendary pounded yam and pepper soup....perhaps it would not be such a long delay over Lagos!

Graculus
What impudence. What insolent boldness and animal effrontery to refer to the President as a "so called President". What a cheek? I think your post is highly insulting and inflamatory to say the least.

Dangagan,
Oh dear I'm so sorry . Just remind me again when he was elected President in an election recognised by the rest of the world as having been free and fair - it must have somehow slipped my mind

My dear Chap Graculus,
I am actually astonished by your brazen and unrepentant display of undiluted ignorance on this issue. A Vice President does not need a re-election to become the President on the death of a President. Lyndon Johnson succeeded to the Presidency of the United States following the assasination of JFK. He was never refered to as a "so called President". George Walker Bush became the President of the United States after great controversy in a highly questionable election, yet you could not refer to him as a "so called President" the moment he was sworn into office. I submit to you that your post is still indeed very provocative.

Having left Nigeria long since, I have been reading the crumbling fortunes of Aero with sadness, though not much surprise and I'll be sad to see the end of a very old and once great name in the Nigerian rotary world. It seems the people, both Nigerian and foreign now involved with the management of the company are not even a dim shadow of those who got the company to where it was in its heyday.
The start of the downfall of Arik also comes as no surprise, with crews not being paid and aircraft always leaving late. It was always known that it was a castle built (very quickly) on sand and that it would crumble one day. The only surprise is that it has taken this long, maybe a reflection of just how much plundered loot was originally invested and how politically connected the directors still are?
I wonder if Caverton will last as long with their origins also very questionable and a similar history of late payment. I read in one of the posts here that they took on Edmund Daukoru as a director just before being rewarded (deliberate spelling) with the Shell contract. Yesterday the Nigerian A-G said that they are close to prosecuting all those involved in the notorious Halliburton $182 million bribe scandal. One of those indicted in this is Edmund Daukoru and I confidently predict that he will be the latest in a long list of fabulously welthy and powerful Nigerians who will get away scot free
It's good to be out of the maelstrom. Good luck to those of you still there and keep a low profile in next year's election chaos which will doubtless be as big a shambles and have results as much disputed as the last

Dangagan,
I hold all politicians of whatever country in the same low esteem and have always supported and liked the view of American poet ee cumings:
The rule of succession of the American President and Vice President is clearly defined in the American Constitution amendment XXV. This is not so clear in Nigeria:
GLJ as President, Practicality vs Illegality
Particularly when his predecessor's election was also not deemed to have been free and fair by the majority of the world:
Nigeria Declares Winner in deeply flawed Election
I would also have stated that the ultimate political numpty George 'Dubya' Bush was a so-called (please note, not so called) President after the 'dimpled ballots' controversy in the USA 2000 elections had America's equivalent to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, to whit Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, been declared closed whilst that well-known drunken, Irish-American gay President Barroom O'Bummer retired to the cludger for a Presidential dump over Atlanta en-route to some other American airfield

It's sad how much the corruption can hold the country back... especially that part of the world. While some laugh getting rich, others cry and die of hunger. F#$^& up world.

Agip Contract lost Again???
Word has it that Bristow has lost its "ad-hoc" contract with Agip to Caverton, and is battling to renew the Chevron contract at expiration. Any truth to these? Could the reign/dominance of Bristow in Nigeria Helo industry be nearing an end?

appears so! If the rumour is true, got a feel sorry for the Bristow Shell pilots and engineers penciled in for Agip.
Time will tell, now matter how many soon-to-be Caverscummers may like to shed crocodile tears for those who decided that a salary always paid on time and no worry about whether one day the Nigerian tax man may just come asking about their unpaid tax is better than a huge salary (which of course nobody has yet got as Caverscum don't take over the Shell Warri and Port Harcourt EC155 contracts until next month, so nobody has yet been paid or is sure if their Nigerian tax liability will be met by the company or may one day come and bite them hard in the nyash

Rumors are only what they are. Time will tell. However, Bristow "Loyalist" or "Caverscummer"; whichever rightly describes you, a little competition in the market does everyone some good. Enough of the "monopoly" at the expense of Nigerians.

I agree Capt B E. Anyhow it is not the real Bristows who are getting their comupance, its the incommers who have tried to jump on the band wagon and take advantage of the solid foundation Bristow experience had developed!!
