Well, probably the Nigerian community in Atlanta shot at the helicopter from the CNN building so CNN can run the incident for the next few weeks, and drive the oil prices up again.
Perhaps it was an attack by MEND supporters to drive up the prices of Coca Cola...God knows

Caverton Super Twinned Ooter Makes Debutantes Flight
The colour scheme being in the Caverton white and blue is no coincidence because daddy and I are, of course involved in investing in the success of this fine aircraft which will take the centre of excellence to a new level when it arrive here, flown by toppest aviators like Mega-Captain Chuks in his designer uniform of genuine Yugo Bossed powder blue suite, with pink shirt (with buttoned hole in fashionable contrasting blue stitch) with 6 bar epaulette, platinum-detail wing and patient leather pointy boot. To compliment this ensemble he will of course be wearing super-aviator reflective shades with genuine Aba Georgia Hermione logo im boss on the arm.
I see much discussions of Nescafe for N150 a cup. Mr Coolings, this is really not cool
. In toppest estaminet such as Bistro helicopter one must surely serve only toppest products. Here at caverton we are serving free of charge the new Nescafe Mocker instant product, but for our normal connersewer such as Mega-Captain Chuks we have now bought a genuine Gaggyer Italian expresso machine in Mega Plaza which will dispose cups of Lavtser Gold and similar toppest coffee product from Europe.
It is sad to see what is happening when company which were formally thought of as centre of excellence, such as Bistro and Aero have been brought so low by foreign management such as soft Canadierns and hard Americans and Scotch mens. Luckily Aero have seen sense and replaced Canadierns with fine mens such as Mr Hankie and Mr Sodhim who are understanding of the African value and way of life. Between us we have two fine proper Nigerian companies who can dominate the market and oust these foreign devils such as Bistro.

What's the Real story of BGN?

Is it true what I'm hearing about hero pilot? Commendations, but engine torques of 190%, Nr 77%, 80 seconds of 2 minute power more than 3 times, nil defects in the journey log on return? Is someone telling lies here? Is there a massive cover-up? What engineering action is being carried out on that helicopter? Will hero pilot volunteer to be the first to fly it again when it is declared serviceable? Is this all being accepted by CHC or is Aero now the company making the decisions in the helicopter division

I fink wot he (fonewind) means is - have an investigation, find out what actually happened.
If the pilot did an amazing job saving the helicopter from being smited by the big hand above - well done.!!!!!
If the pilot as "rumoured" got himself into that predicament because he had actually been bumped up to command when he didn't do so well on his command check - then demote him ground him or retrain him.
Not flying into the sea does not excuse unloading passeengers - reloading fresh ones and flying back to base.

In fact, at home we (well, the wife) have a top-quality Italian coffee machine of make SAECO, when I was investigating cramming same into "Ghana-must-go" and bringing it here to fit to my desert-capable Twinned Ootter. We had the machine, we had the beans but there is always a snag i.e. the extension cord for the 220v. power supply. "Back to the drawing board" as we say in aviation.

That is to say, we Septics never really had much of an empire but if we had had then I think we would have known better than to mess with beverages for the plebs. That way lies trouble.

Actually if heated well the 'water from salt water' made tea indistinguishable from any other - made from that and heated to boiling water and allowed to cool, then reheated, was a dead giveaway! You must remember Roger V. !

I can't see what the fuss is about. It looks pretty good to me. A bit of grease in the dampers, dab of super glue and it can go on the flight line in the morning.
Gives one more faith in the Sikorsky Ironworks I'd say!
Now lets see what other dynamic components are left on the aircraft as being "Serviceable"!
Forty years of helicopter flying and sure I never seen anything like that before....ever!

Wow is all I can say! First off, I'm amazed that anything could have flown in that state, second it says something for how tough the S76 is, third it's amazing that the crew apparently felt no vibrations and obviously didn't have a look around their cab after landing if they really didn't make an entry in the journey log I'd have to agree with you SAS, that in any years flying I've never seen anything like that - which survived!

Personally, however I believe that the pilot who landed that and did not enter anything relevant in the log should be removed from flying forthwith. I do not believe that anyone who counts themselves as a professional could do that and walk away from it after landing.
Yes, he saved the lives of the people on board, kudos to him, but HOW WAS IT ALLOWED TO GET LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
I am not a pilot, so if any pilot out there can tell me a credible scenario that can lead to this I will accept it, but until then I would like to see him taken behind the hangar for retraining.

5- Unusual attitude; spatial disorientation
Common Errors During Unusual Attitude Recoveries
1. Failure to make proper pitch correction;
2. Failure to make proper bank correction;
3. Failure to make proper power correction;
4. Overcontrol of pitch and/or bank attitude;
5. Overcontrol of power;
6. Excessive loss of altitude.

I gather one of the drag dampers mountings had failed (as indeed the one above is close to following.) Could they even have read the instruments with the shaking that would have been going on? They must have been close to losing a blade.
