Angry Useless French Techno-crap

NEO,

Thanks goodness it's not a French one, like my damned Archos. Despite their self-proclaimed world technical dominance, 15 e-mails have resulted in the same thing - their French crapo-product is still totally useless . More of the same useless rubbish today telling me that my, and the world's problems, are now solved and everything works.........until you try and take them at their word. Whats the French technological equivalent of 419?

archos - not your fault

Question Pan African S76c++ In Ph

I see that the new Pan African S76C++ was at the NAF Base Port Harcourt today. It looked very smart. Is this now going to be based in PHC or does the Pan African paint job mean it's off to Escravos?

etienne,

I think you'll find that the new S76 is going to Escravos and will shortly be joined by a second 76C++.

CHC's Brian Clegg is out visiting Nigeria and one of his tasks must be to sort out the problems with the Aero national pilots' strike and stop the steady loss of expat pilots with even more now threatening to leave if something is not done very soon. At least the CHC senior management from Canada do visit Nigeria and probably spend more time in Port Harcourt than the Bristow management from Lagos.

Meanwhile both CHC and Bristow are waiting to find out which company will be awarded the Chevron deepwater contract. Whichever one wins is sure to have quite a problem finding enough pilots to crew it.

Question about Bristow

Hi,

I'm an American Air Log pilot in the Gulf of Mexico... and have the chance to work for Bristow in Escarvos. Can anyone give me some info on pay, living conditions, helicopters, security, work schedule?

All answers would be appriciated!

pogo,

I think you'll find that the Chevron 412s have been relocated to Warri now as the S76s have moved into Escravos.

Thumbs up Our New Jumbolino Twinned Ootter Fleet

There cannot be any person in the whole of the aircraft and helicopter industry in the whole of the wide world who have not heard that the world center of aviation excellence now has the superb, modern Jumbolino De Haviland Twinned Ooter in our modern, well maintained fleet of world-beating aircrafts. The stunning pictures on our website show how our beautiful fleet is looking with photographs of our Agusta before it left and helicopters, with superb single-engine performances being used to abseil peoples all the way to ground from flight with utmost ease and safety. We would never compromise on safety, performance or safety and for this reason we are expanding slowly as we refuse to take any cast-off from any other organisation and hire only the toppest professionals at the peak of their carreers to fly and maintain our fleet. This is why we are now thinking of opening a new aviating training centre, because so many people will be queueing to be trained up to the same standards as our professionals. Soon, you too could be getting trained up to the toppest of Nigerian standard by one of our experienced team who have so much wonderful experiences to pass on to you. Why not sign up for a course now? All we need is your bank details to make some small transfers to daddy's account and you will immediately receive full details of your course, including application form for a visa to come to our friendly, welcoming country, with space for your credit card details so we can book you into a quality hotel for your stay here.
The Twinned Ootter is particularly suitable for Nigeria because it can fly slow so be well aware of where it is before having collision with other aircrafts or runways unlike that nasty Let 410 which we quickly got rid of. It also have excellent room in the cockpit footwell enabling it to have excellent rudder co-ordination when wearing stylishly pointy pilot shoes.
Yet again daddy's forward thinking have enabled us to move forward to another dimension with our company being talked about all over Africa and world aviation centres such as Jalingo, Shikwokwa, Zangwan Daji, Yankwashe, Gargarawa, Zurmi, London, Washington, Paris and such other places daddy have visited.
Remember you're always in safe hands when you're in our hands

It is a very small world!

I recently met an old colleague, the so-called Bald Eagle, in Toronto where we were both undergoing training on this very aircraft. Guess who he is going to work for?

It turns out that Caverton purchased the next-to-last Twin Otter made, in order to get under the wire on the rule that aircraft for Nigeria cannot be older than 25 years. It really is a very nice Twotter, so long as you really do want to fly in an unpressurised aircraft with low wing-loading that does 160 knots flat-out.

If you ever wondered as a passenger, "What did that guy sat next to me have for breakfast?" this is one machine that can let you know about that right smartish after just a bit of moderate turbulence, since its ride quality is rather rollercoasterish.

I myself was recently spotted begging our Stores man for more sick sacks, when he told me they are back-ordered. Cue a rather panicked expression on my face at hearing that!

chuks,

I hope your friend has a healthy bank balance, as it's likely to suffer if he ever decides to leave . Oh well, there's a sucker born every day so they say. It'll look good as the high point on his CV for his next job

Sick Sacks

Chuks Old Man,

Any real helicopter pilot would know that the 30 gallon to 55 gallon black bin liner makes a most satisfactory receptacle in lieu of the half pint paper sack commonly called a sick sack.

Even management level folks can hit the mark with one of those....they do open up to about a three foot diameter hole and have enough depth to hold any amount of bilge water a human could produce in an hour long flight.

They are more common than the half pint sized things and can serve in a multiple of ways in addition to the original desired tasking.

Trim a few arm holes and one has an improvished rain coat much in use in Nigeria....and could in a pinch be used whilst jousting with the odd Night Fighter although they would be a bit small for your average helicopter pilot.

Am now about halfway through the Vietnam trip....ah to be twenty again and know what I do now!

I have been interrogating some betel nut users in your age bracket but none seem to remember you.

The Caverton 'Twinned Ooter' is actually still in Switzerland being prepared for its journey to its final resting place - Nigeria .

I see that the Caverton staff turnover (both expat and national) is still, pro rata, one of the highest in the business with yet another disillusioned national engineer returning to his original employer. I wonder which sucker they've found to fly the DHC6? Chuks - any comment?

No names....

We are not allowed to use real names here, so that I cannot tell you his name but the new Caverton pilot is a very experienced local pilot with no hair plenty, hence his nom de guerre. I am sure he will get on well with his new job. About being paid on time, well, let us just wish him luck with that.

The aircraft is in very good nick, I believe. In fact, all of the aircraft I have flown for Zimex are really outstanding by the undemanding standards of this Twin Otter pilot. They are clean and shiny inside and out and fitted with modern avionics, lacking only a yaw damper, since none is currently available. They have EGPWS but no TCAS.

chuks,

It doesn't, of course, need a yaw damper, because if your shoes are pointy enough they will always help you to use the pedals such that the ball is always in the middle . Did you say that the aircraft has been nicked!? Well no surprises there

Thumbs up The Bristow Pay Rise

Forget Twin Ooters, forget bank accounts in Guinea-Bissau, from the world beating Bristow team, creators of the world-beating Target Zoro, empowering safety leaders to cascade our message of One world, One Team. If you join our team you can have an ethical bank account in the Channel Islands. This is called an 'offshore account', but all your details will be forwarded as a matter of routine to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs in UK - you can't say fairer or more ethical than that now can you? You'll also have the opportunity to join our pathfinding team in Nigeria who are working on setting new world records for prolonging the life of early examples of the Bell 412 and S76. Groundbreaking work indeed.
Naturally, we don't expect something for nothing and our world-beating team of accountants have put together a new salary package which will be the envy of most, will encourage even more defections from CHC and is confidently expected to convince at least 50% of our present workforce to change to a new world-beating 8/4 roster. But, you don't have to take my word for it....... the bottom line is the money right? So, here are the full details of our new world-beating salary package:

Crisi Of Confidence.........

I love my management. I really do, honestly.

Which is why I'm shocked to see an empty space where my excellent new pay deal should be in the previous post.

A small finger problem which will be quickly rectified, I'm sure.
