i work on the helo side (i think somewhere in vancouver is one of our bosses?) but i see and talk with acn fixed wing guys daily. chc is not involved at all anymore, not operatinally nor financially. you get paid in euros and by the way a bit more than under chc. they all seem quiet happy with several new 737's to come on line.

On the contrary, CHC does still have involvement on the FW side, some of the aircraft leases are still in their name along with aero.

Thumbs down Implosion at Work

redragon and RFDT,

If you think there are big changes coming in Aero, you should see what's happened at Bristow as Wee Dick and Old Yellow Belly have yet again made major changes with no nationals being invited to apply for the new management jobs they've created . I forecast major upsets and industrial problems on the horizon. Have these people no idea of how to make things work smoothly? Bristow and aero both seem companies determined on self-destruction and the only ones likely to profit will be Caverton and others waiting on the sidelines to walk in and pick up the pieces

Angry The bloodhounds...

Jaaaa, the bloodhounds are waiting to pick up the pieces. I was told by a Nigerian today that there is no war in Nigeria, the kidnappings are fictitious, and overall it is a very friendly country. My a$#. Even if I would have smoked dope I would have not believed the cr?#$ of shyt that came out of his mouth. Anyway, I will be picking a spot on the sidelines to watch this destruction unfold...

Thumbs down Fictitious Kidnappings

Here's an article from a Nigerian newspaper with details of a recent kidnapping, as a result of which a 10 year old boy was strangled :

Kidnappers Strangle 10-Year-Old Boy After Collecting Ransom

Imo State Police command yesterday paraded three suspected kidnappers who strangulated their victim, a 10-year-old boy, to death even after collecting ransom from his parents.

Also paraded were seven armed robbery suspects arrested by the command from different parts of the state.

The suspected kidnappers, Ugonna Lambert, Kingsley Edoziem and Ogonna Onye, are from Iho in Ikeduru Local Government Area. According to the police, they penultimate Sunday, allegedly lured master Emmanuel Eric Junior, a native of Akata in Ideato North LGA, from a church service in Port Harcourt and abducted him, and they took him down to Ikeduru where they strangulated him and buried his body in a pit a few days later.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Linus Nwaiwu who gave detailed account of the incident while parading the suspects, said the kingpin of the syndicate, Ugonna Lambert, was a close friend of Emmanuel Eric family and took advantage of the relationship to organize for the kidnap of his son, Emmanuel Eric Jnr. According to him, when they brought the boy to Iho, they telephoned his father and demanded for N10 million ransom for his release.

They were able to reach a compromise a few days later and the man paid huge sum waiting for his son to be released to him. Rather than releasing the boy, Ugonna told his colleagues that Emmanuel had identified him and might reveal his identity to his father. There they agreed to go to a native doctor to prepare a charm that would make Emmanuel confused so that he would not recollect the faces of his captors. Somewhere along the road to the native doctor's place, Kinsley suggested that the best thing was to kill the victim as the charm of the native doctor might fail.

They now took him down to a burrow pit in Ikeduru and strangulated him after which they buried his corpse there. Nwaiwu further disclosed that the corpse of the victim had been recovered and deposited at Federal Medical Centre mortuary while the command is presently conducting a discreet investigation to ascertain if the arrested suspects had been involved in other kidnapping, in the past.

He also said that the command was waging a relentless war on kidnapping and warned those planning to get involved in the crime to repent or wait for police offensive. Meanwhile, two of the suspects, Ugonna Lambert and Kinsley Edoziem, who spoke to Daily Champion corroborated police account but traded allegation among themselves on who initiated the idea of strangulating the victim. The third accused, Ogonna, however, denied involvement in the crime.

Narrating how they killed the innocent boy, Ugonna and Kinsley said that they first took him to Ubomiri after abducting him from a church service in Port Harcourt from where they made phone calls to his father for payment of ransom. According to them, Mr. Emmanuel brought the sum of N60, 000 ransom and kept it at Nwaoriebi Headquarters of Mbaitolu LGA as directed. They wanted to take him to a native doctor but there was fear that the native doctor might be fake one.

When they finally agreed to take the life of the victim, they took him to a bush in Ikeduru near a burrow pit and one of them strangulated him to death with hand.

Thereafter they threw his body in the pit and proceeded to a native doctor to prepare a charm that will make the parents of the boy not detect them as abductors and kidnappers of their son. They spoke as Mr. Emmanuel Eric, father of the victim, and his relatives were shading tears at the command premises.

Oh Dear............ What Is Wrong With Bristow ??

Don't they listen ? JFR has it right, there are ructions in the ranks again. After a meeting where all sorts of assurances were made, the only advertised jobs (Engineers at Calabar) have been filled without any interviews or selection.

Now two Ops Managers in waiting have been installed without any prior word at all. One of them has been promoted out of the blue despite a dark past in the Gulf and an untrustworthy reputation here.

The National troops have been upset again only two weeks after the last disruption. This time its nationwide.

To top it off all the jobs went to expats. So much for Nigerianisation.

Oh dear....... What is wrong with Bristow.

Nigerians are a distant minority in Bristow. No one has guts to voice out his feelings. I believe that it is a keg of gun powder that will blow up someday.

Thumbs down It's Easier to be President than get on in Bristow

Bristow has never been a Nigerian friendly company, the only Nigerian who ever had a voice or influence there was Oni. Compare that with Aero where on the rotary wing side the Deputy Operations Manager, Chief Pilot and Deputy Chief Pilot are all nationals. From all I've seen and heard about Bristow they treat everyone as if they're in the army, deserve to just get screwed around, told nothing. It's an American company now, but it seems it's easier for a black man to be elected President of the USA than it is to even be offered the chance of advancement with Bristow.

In a lengthy e-mail to Paul Weddick who was in Redhill at the time I was leaving for the final time.....I discussed at length the dangerous path Bristow was heading down due to the rank racial discrimination being displayed by some of the management in Lagos. Those concerns were among a laundry list of issues I felt were compelling in their need for resolution.

In that e-mail I strongly endorsed Oni and several others as being quite capable of leading the company and who should be candidates for senior management. One of these days I might publish the contents of that e-mail but have refrained from doing so for a number of reasons.

It makes one wonder if he ever passed on my concerns to those at the helm in either Redhill/Lafayette or Lagos?

I also made those thoughts known to very senior people at Air Log.

It seems the company was a much happier place when it was run by former RN and RAF folks.....the British Army must be one very miserable place from what I have seen at BHL.

But SASLESS,
you were only a "bush pilot" from Nigeria, so how could you possibly know that much about anything managerial?

Besides, the fact that you dared to make your pinion known is a clear indication that you do not know your place in the hierarchy, and hence are by default, not qualified to make said statement in the first place.

And a Yank at that.....whatever was I thinking?

I also advocated a National Pilots Union as well...in light of how the Nigerians were being treated.

We all remember the days when "locals" were not welcome in the BRC unless they were serving staff.

"Locals"!

In the good old days HELICOPTER PILOTS weren't very welcome in the BRC Bar!

I used to talk to them but then I will talk to just about anyone. As a Septic and just a bush pilot can I afford to be choosy? (I couldn't always understand the accent but so what? Of course there was the time I tried to give a guy the Heimlich Manoeuvre when it turned out that he wasn't choking, just Scottish.)

Oh well, all those gloomy predictions... Does it cheer you up somehow to see things play out the way you thought they would, SASless?

Just remember, "Living well is the best revenge."

We are the masters - you are the mugus

What is the matter with you pussies? We'll run the show the way we want it. Why would we want some native guy there running things if we can't get rid of him when things go wrong? The only natives we want are yes men like we have now. Listen ladies, it's all about the bottom line and submission to our will. You think you work for Bristow - yeah, right, you do........ be happy. We don't want guys who tell us what we're doing wrong, we don't want guys who abide by COBI - that's just PC BS for us to use when we want to satisfy the SEC or get rid of embarrassments or trouble makers like we had and still have in Eket. We don't dirty our corporate hands - we get guys like our pussy, Femi to do that garbage for us. Just remember, we are the masters, you are the mugus. Live with it - or leave - it's all the same to us
Oh, and if you ladies think we're going to let anyone but our dutiful Voer Trekkers run the Pan African side of things you're also frikkin' crazy. It's our way or the highway. Mike's our man and you bunch of pussies aren't even going to begin to beat a kick-ass like him. The world is ours.

Oh quite to the contrary Chuks.

Surprised...no!

Happy about being right....no!

What absolutely boggles my feeble mind (too many Gulders with you at the bar)....but why and how those in charge got there...remain there....and actually think they are right, correct, and doing God's Work?

But then.....the current world financial crisis surprised everyone too! Well almost everyone.....except for those that ran around shouting "...the Sky is Falling!"...and were not heard, believed, or given any credence.

As to living well....back to the boat with my Cajun Missus who took cooking lessons from Justin Wilson!

There is life after Bristow, ya'll!

Grrr No Change to the Old Boy Net in Bristow

Not that I believe anything of the previous post has anything to do with Bristow Management, but it might as well have come straight from their mouths as it actually does seem to represent what they really think. The problems with the national unions are temporarily postponed, not finished, especially when management pull a new stunt like these new unpublicised positions. What better opportunity would there have been to bring on and train a new Nigerian manager to replace someone who is already past retirement age? Sadly, though the junior, he is the only one of the two managers who demonstrates any managerial ability and who is respected by those of us living in the mud at the bottom of the pond. It's interesting that all this is happening when he is out on leave - do you think he knew what was in the pipeline? Peter Bara is known and respected by most, and had he been appointed as a result of interviews after an SVN was issued, nobody would have been surprised. Eel McSly has come totally from nowhere and will enjoy little respect or co-operation from anybody, either expatriate or national. It's probably not his fault, but his is going to be a difficult job with the widespread resentment his appointment is causing. On what basis was he selected? What previous managerial experience does he have? Why is he any better than a well-qualified, well-educated Nigerian who should be getting groomed for these medium levels of management? How does all this comply with the Bristow Code of Business Integrity? For those who still think the whole COBI thing isn't just a management con so they can get rid of people like Karl, you could try making anonymous reports on the Bristow Whistleblower hotline on Bristow Whitleblower Hotline or if you're willing to put your neck on the line e mail Richard Burman direct. He's the higher authority to who both Imlach, Weddick and Oyeleke report.
SASless should publish his e-mail to Paul Weddick. Let's see how little has changed and ask why he is in a position to help with Nigerianisation in Nigeria, but seems to be just continuing with promotions on the old-boy network like the Bristow of 30 years ago, not in accordance with the advertised policies of one of the world's largest helicopter companies in the 21st century. As long as practices like this are continued with nobody will have any faith in the management of Bristow, their integrity or their intention to allow any but a very few selected Nigerians to ever advance.

Eel Mcsly

Jesus, now there is a name I had hoped to forget, amazing how the pond scum keeps rising to the top.
Eel was Trogs bum boy back in Qatar for years, do the math.
Eels only management experience was a short stint as CP in Macau, back when the 222 was the latest technology.
Good luck, and thanks for the fine reading.
Now, I,m going to duck, as I can see the knives coming out!

looks like the same old ladies doing the same old complaining.......

At least Eel Mcsly tries to get things done. Yeah sure, I have heard it all before. Fact is, the guys that complain the most are the ones, who generally contribute the least, except for the noise that tends to eminate from their cake holes.....

As far as having an all run Nigerian helicopter company is concerned....... Well I think you only have to look at the state of Nigeria, to figure that one out..... If you think Bristow hasn't thought of this, think again!

Thank goodness, I left that place[Nigeria]. It consumes and devours!

Makila,

How would one know the difference?

Beyond maybe the serviette being removed from the rack?
