Maybe tottigol fiddled a bit with the original. When you check the Bristow website www.bristowgroup.com "Careers-Available Positions-Caribbean Pilots" you'll find exactly the same advert, except they are offering even less money (US$ 6.600).

The contact information is peculiar and the similarities to the past job openings in Trini are striking, that was why I posted it before.
Perhaps those are Trini openings in disguise?

Just maybe some of you will remember a post I made here just over a month ago, mentioning that Nevergreen are getting something together, possibly under the Virgin Nigeria AOC with Bell 412s?............. 
Interesting isn't it that with both CHC and Bristow claiming that they will be the ones to get the huge contract for the Agbami field development (estimated at more than 1 billion oil-equivalent barrels, making it the largest offshore discovery in Nigeria to date) neither seems to have announced that they have been awarded the aviation support contract. If it's as imminent as everyone seems to be saying I wonder how on earth either company will possibly be able to gear up to start it any time soon, even if it's split between 2 companies as widely rumored?
The new CHC staff housing is very nice. Excellent facilities and within short driving distance of both NAF Base and Agip. If the security situation ever improves it's also well placed for access to leisure facilities. Finally, after the so-called Death Camp debacle, CHC has shown some common sense and got what the guys really want.

Nabil Haqui Retiring - the end of an era?
I hear that Nabil Haqui, having reached the age of 65, may finally be retiring from Aero Contractors and his farewell bash is tonight. I'm sure he'll stay on in Nigeria in some sort of consultant capacity, but whatever he moves on to, I'm sure I'll be only one of many to wish him the very best for the future

Nabil has had an interesting and successful career, having started flying as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Air Force. When he left he flew with Bristow Helicopters from Aberdeen and Yemen for a while but probably first came to prominence when working for Schreiner in Iran. After Andrew Pyke was placed under house arrest after the revolution, it was Nabil who kept the company out there going as he was still able to move around. He started his time in Nigeria as a helicopter pilot, but after some years changed to fixed wing and was the Managing Director of Aero Contractors. He always preferred to keep on flying and changed to the role of Deputy Managing Director so he could fly every day. A few years ago he stepped down from the job, but continued as a consultant to the company, whilst continuing to fly the Boeing 737. He's had a lot of influence in getting the company to where it stands today and is widely respected by his colleagues in both fixed wing and rotary divisions.

I was amused to get a request from Nabiel for another RAF Pilot's logbook. He had filled up Number Whatever and wanted one more to log his time in his new toy, the Boeing 737. No using any manky old logbook for Nabiel; he has standards!
After class finished at London Met I went Underground on a secret mission, all the way to Victoria Station and then down rainy London streets to first, Trans-Air to buy the book and then back Underground to Oxford Street and a Fed-Ex office on one of its side streets to flash it off to Lagos.
As I recall, it cost far more to send the logbook than it cost to buy it, but never mind. It was worth the trip to keep Nabiel happy, since he is one of the Good Guys.
I look forward to visiting Canada to see him ensconced as some sort of gentleman farmer in a long, happy retirement. Well, I give that about six months before he is back to someplace hot and nasty to do what he does best. Either way, all the best!

I second Soggyboxers comments about Nabil, I worked with Nabil in Iran until the Iran - Iraq war effectively brought the company to an end. I missed him in Nigeria as Andrew Pyke the MD while I was there.

Any firm word on Agbami ?? Apparently the FPSO is en route and the final decision has been delayed repeatedly for months. As you say, whatever the outcome starting up at short notice will be a problem either way.

Why is it I have not heard of you doing similar treats for the BRC Moguls as I am sure you experienced the same high caliber of management and integrity from them.
I met Nabil briefly a few times but was always impressed with his being both friendly and professional. The mark of any Man is by the way people talk about him in private and without a doubt Nabil was admired by those that knew him.

small fiesty american pilot
I know a certain not so young American pilot who flew in Nigeria for Bristow a few years ago. He was a founder member of the 'Eket Home for unmarried mothers'. I cannot reveal his name because he was an exRanger and would have to kill me and eat me, is he still around?

Just found this on a well known website
Port Harcourt Airport Begins Operations
Flight operations to and from the Port Harcourt International Airport began on Thursday. This follows the installation and ground check of the Precision Approach Instrument (PAPI), the landing equipment for aircraft, and its calibration by ASECNA.
Meanwhile, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has warned airlines operating to Port Harcourt Airport not to go below 3,000 metres, the minimum visibility for the airport.
The warning is contained in a statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs of FAAN, Akin Olukunle.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had on Wednesday granted clearance to the airport for flight operations.
The Minister of Transportation, Diezani Alison-Madueke, is to formally reopen the airport on Friday. Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, is expected to receive the minister on the occasion.
Until the airfield lighting system for the airport is completed in the first quarter of 2008, flight operations into the Port Harcourt International Airport will be restricted to daylight Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and to aircraft in the weight category of Boeing 727 and other aircraft types below that category.
The reopening of the airport, according to the Managing Director of FAAN, Richard Aisuebeogun, is in line with the earlier promise by Alison-Madueke that the airport would be opened to daylight operation by mid-December.
The airport was closed on August 18, 2006 by NCAA and FAAN to allow for its rehabilitation and expansion, especially its runway, airfield lighting system and terminal building.

You aren't supposed to talk about the lack of approaches at Osubi! Ever since it was opened everyone looked in another direction, namely the terminal lobby, ever so well-equipped with pot plants and furniture. That they got right away, thanks to the Scottish Dwarf.
I once watched a Nigerian Government Gulfstream IV pop out of the Osubi clag somewhat sideways and pointed earthwards, with Number One aboard. I was thinking to myself, "Hmm. What sort of a sh*t-storm will ensue if those NAF pilots do a lusty clanger and then it comes to light that this place, having cost $30 million, is Day VFR only?"
It was just another one of those idle thoughts that kept getting me in trouble. After that I took another drink of the Kool-Aid and was soon back to normal.

Weather Limitations
What about the 5000mtrs/1000ft limitation Shell has introduced to Helicopter traffic within the PHC and Osubi zones? You certainly won't find anyone more dedicated to safety standards than Shell.
