snakechrmr,

I think that Caverton are still actually operating 2 Squirrels, the 'yellow peril' and the blue thing. In all fairness, they've also expanded the Centre of Excellence mightily with the advent of all that new technology in their enormous 2 aircraft 'Twinned Ooter' fleet blundering around near Bonny and PH

I think the real reason for their failure to have expanded as much or as quickly as they have been talking about is the failure of that man-about-town Chuks, to have joined them, despite the many blandishments offered to him, including the paltinum bars and his own Pajaj

They have always sought to be the "Toppest" not the "most biggest" and without a doubt Senior Airflug Kapitan vor Luft Chuks is missing a platinum opportunity. As he is a battered husband he would a natural for the lucrative 16/4 roster being offered by Caverton. With some good luck and a toppest lawyer from his friends at Bristoe....he might be able to wrangle an 18/2 roster and be all the better off.

Perhaps Chuks will bring along some of his friends from Germany to help him keep up with his fluency in that language as well as learn more about Porsche automobile technology. As he now holds a JAR ATPL, his need for more theoretical knowledge and tutoring is far less than before thus he and his German Pal would have far more time for personal discussions on the finer points of flying and Porsches.

Centre Of Excrement

With credit crunch "rightsizing" (the new HR buzzword) imminent Caverton may well be the lucky ones before long.

New aircraft with proper engineers and procedures could be an attractive prospect for pilots when the alternative is no job

Count me in!

I didn't even throw a radio at the guy at the top of the greasy pole the way SOMEONE I know did yet I am out on the job market yet again.

I really, really cannot understand why this keeps happening to me except that I used to stand too close to SASless, when a few helo cooties must have jumped across and ruined my famous attitude.

What did you say, 18/2 and a Bajaj? I am off on the weekend to pick up my dusty, pointy shoes so "Let's Make a Deal!" I definitely need to get out of here; this woman keeps putting me to work!

I need the shade of a mango tree and a few dusky hand-maidens, if only to fan my brow, hand me bevvies and work the bicycle generator driving the charger for the lap-top as I re-write the SOPs to make things super-duper-excellent.

More happiness and joy at Aero as those unfortunate managers who were forced to transfer from CHC to Aero to keep their jobs have now had their contracts changed to a 5 months on 1 month off roster. The resignations this has caused is bringing consternation as to whether Aero really can survive in the long term.

Caverton's 412s are rumored to be 'delayed' by another 4 months. At that time we'll probably see a further 6 months delay

There you go Chuks.....climb that greasy pole....apply to ACN for a Manager's slot!

By the way....the story is being twisted....if I had been aiming at him....he would still have to twist a Tit to change the squelch setting! Life is full of missed opportunities!

MamPut,

So CHC isn't involved in management of ACN at all any more - I wonder how that is going down with the oil companies.

Are there not still some CHC pilots working there? Who's whistle do they jump to?

I think that you got a wrong picture of the situation like most people outside Nigeria

Oil companies had no problem with ACN during 46 years.
The wahalla started when CHC came in the game

CHC renew the fleet , that's a fact nobody can denie , but beside this ...
4 managers in 3 years . . . and some of them never talked to the client

Today oil companies just want to know if their operations will suffer from CHC\ACN divorce

What you don't seem to understand is that CHC is the oil company because they are owned by First Reserve energy. One of the, if not the largest Oil company holding firms in the world. Piss them off and your done. Sad and unfortunate but true. All things come to an end. Aero's only hope now is the 737 sched airline nonsence.

Neither First Reserve nor CHC are oil companies. First Reserve Corporation is an investment corporation which invests heavily in the oil sector. A review of its portfolio companies doesn't list any major oil companies:

Danger

Trigger

u don't get it, CHC is not the oil companies

First Reserve is far above and doesn't give sh**t about ACN

If there is a rotten branch in the tree they just cut it, it's just another financial institution investing on energy supply and ressource $$$$$$$$

If they can develop ACN and make money, then they will be involved . . .
but that means dealing with Ibru family ! ! !
Do they know the game's rule in Africa ? CHC didn't, here is the result

If First Reserve fail, ACN will be sold at the local market for who ever wants to by it

For sure some other chopper companies are having a close look about what's happening here

Nigeria is the most profitable place for CHC, "when they get paid" i dont think tht 1ST RESERVE or CHC will let go, they wont leave the Nigerian market like that with all the investment made with new Helis, trainings, etc...

When you don't get paid you are not making money, regardless of how impressive the invoice looks - just ask Madoff's investors. You'd have thought that FR would have been worldly and sophisticated enough to know how to play the "game". But it does look like the Ibru's left them in their underwear at the poker table.

So now CHC has no management influence on ACN and you think they are going to keep pouring money in? And any of their pilots left there appear to be just twisting in the wind.

Other companies having a closer look as a result of CHC's misadventure - is this why Evergreen is stalling on going in, why Caverton likewise, Shell is pulling out, Bristow cutting back, etc.....?

Shell isn't pulling out, merely relocating, with Snake Island being closed down for helicopter operations and the Super Puma moving to Lagos. Bristow 'cut backs' include an expansion of fixed wing operations with additional executive jet operating contracts. The Bristow Bell 412EP from Mauritania is also coming to Nigeria and rumour has it that more S76s may be coming.

CHC may have nobody based on site in Nigeria with influence on ACN, but they do have a 40% stake in the company so naturally they still have to invest to maintain that stake. They seem to have come to some agreement and money is now being paid to them from ACN. The main worry is that since Aero has unilaterally changed the contracts of a number of middle managers, causing them to quit, the management experience base will be lowered and could well lead to a lowering of in-country experience and standards.

Phone Wind,

You haven't mentioned the 6 aircraft operating in Nigeria that Shell actually own......

the EC155's.

To my knowledge, they are still operating at PH and Warri.

All is now well with CHC Aero. Lala man is back and will be enjoying the benefit of his cordial relationship with all crews at much closer quarters in future. With his excellent working relationship with the GM and his unique view on operations, all will soon be back on track for a spectacular recovery
