Thanks
Read this thread to the end, but I still don't have a clear idea what SIC's are making outside the US as of today.

Looks like Bristow may be pulling out of Port Harcourt before too long. I heard Bobo on its way to Lagos today and a friend tells me it won't be coming back. It looks like Shell is just leaving 1 EC155 in PH and Bristow may just have its old faithful SKY to hold the fort at NAF Base. Reading the local papers it looks as if one of Bristow's major clients, Shell may soon pull out of Nigeria. There's still no news of Agbami, but if Bristow don't get it they're going to be looking a bit thin on the ground out here.
Meanwhile CHC's EC225s will be arriving in the next few months and crews and engineers are already in France doing courses, while many new pilots are due to arrive as are many cadets from South Africa. The new apartments on GRA look to be real nice and will make a bit more room as we're going to be up to around 150 pilots soon.

Danger - CHC
Haha, I hear that the most dangerous place in Nigeria anyway is CHC housing. They now have bar smasher Kayman, the Cannibal of Oz, and nob-choppin night fighters

you got all wrong, we all make a minimum of 100 000 us dollars + benefits (on a basic 6/6 roaster), you have missed a lot, go work on your ATP if you want to come here...
Mamaput
let me correct you, all the training in France has been done, i heard it's just Eurocopter who is not ready to deliver the choppers
etienne
the place is just dangerous for security guys, some of them have lost their dick when performing their duties (some juju... you know thoses things can happen here )

Bristow Nigeria MD to Leave for GOM
Bristow Nigeria MD, Danny Holder, is to leave to be MD of the company in the GOM in July this year. His successor has not yet been named. It's also rumoured that the Major will be staying on beyond his 65th birthday.

MP,
They're really running down in PH, the guys there now don't even have any medical cover. It's the beginning of the end for them there. Not the company I knew 8 years ago. Things weren't great then, but they seem much worse now - surprising when they're making so much money in Nigeria

Mama,
You're not quite right. It's true that the S76 on contract to SNEPCO has been sent back to Lagos for now, but we still have one here for Addax and there are rumours of another one on its way coming .
However, you're quite right about the worrying lack of any medical cover. We had one heart attack only a few weeks ago, but he was a lucky Shell contractor. The rest of us are being failed by the system and it's really poor when you consider that Aero?CHC has had decent medical cover in place for all its people here for years and even third-world Caverton has medical cover for its people in PH

Well soggy, you could always move next door with all your old boys - as you said CHC has great medical cover. We've had several guys with heart problems who were excellently dealt with by SOS. A few years ago we had one engineer who had a nasty acccident at Agip when a tyre which was being inflated without a safety cage exploded, causing extensive hand and arm damage. Both SOS and CHC did a great job of initial trauma care, followed by medivac to South Africa for fairly extensive surgery and then flew him home to Oz. You can't put a price on good medical care out here, but it's sure a worry if you have none

I guess you're working for Bristow and that's a part of OLOG based here in Texas (or do they have you on some fancy deal where you're employed by some small company basedon a Caribean Isle where there's no employment law?). If so, as an American company there's all sorts of legislation about their duty of care to you. You could either sue their ass (you'd probably lose) or take it up with a top feeder from the food chain, peferably in Q&S because those guys have all the lout and direct access to CEOs these days. If you're an American, there's plenty of jobs here in the States right now.

Good news, the gap in our medical cover was due to a late decision by one client to withdraw a helicopter to Lagos, but cover with the excellent SOS International clinic has now been arranged
Mama,
NEO's around, but possibly rather busy with work or wanting to keep his nasal appendages clean

soggy,
You hit the nail on the head. Everyone here has been trying to get information out of NEO but if he knows anything (which I don't think he does) he's not telling !!
You may well be right about maintaining hygiene in the olfactory membrane area though............
Interesting times for Bristow.

MamPut,
As soggyboxers says I'm around but the lack of comment is nothing to do with my proboscis. It's because I (like everyone down the line) have no idea who is going to replace who. The announcement made no mention of Danny's successor which is weird as every other move in the same announcement went like a chess game with one out or up and one in.
I fail to understand the rationale behind this sort of military "need to know" mentality. If Bristow are One Team etc then it should be assumed that we are as interested in the future as senior management, so surely the details of such pivotal changes should be shared ?
All will be revealed in the fullness of time. Until then we peons will just have to wait.
Cheers,
NEO

New Md For Bristow
NEO,
The rumor I'm hearing is that a certain pointy-shoe-wearing Managing Director has done such a fabtastic job of selling his 'jumbolino' concept that Bristow are trying to recruit him . Expect all pointy shoes to be required for all pilots and Bristow management soon

Chc Leaving Cameroon
CHC are soon going to be shutting up their operation in Cameroon. I'm told that the pilots will be transferred to Nigeria to help with the shortage there. That'll be nice then Has Heli-Union taken over the contract from them or is the fighting in Chad the cause with the pipeline to Kribi not being used?

MamaPut,
I've still got a pair of winkle pickers in the attic, I guess I'll have to dust them off !! Rumours abound as is always the case in these situations. Why not just tell people what is going on ? It surely can't do any harm ?

CHC Nigeria
Does anyone have an email address / contact information for CHC Nigeria employment opportunities.
I have been in contact with CHC Global and they said that they where at full strength. So I was hoping that someone had the Contact info for Nigeria Ops or the Chief pilot. Thanks

oh please
TopGunZulu - do your due diligence, please. CHC is looking for pilots, true...but they want pilots who are at least able to find them without help. It's much easier than finding the platform in the dark....
