Heavy Maintenance D Checks Coming Up?
 

Seems like a lot of planes nowadays are getting old (average fleet age for a lot of airlines is nearing 12 years for American and over 13 for United).

Any chances we will be seeing a lot more heavy maintenance checks coming up for airlines? Hopefully some interior refurbishments are in order given how profitable airlines are this year.

I doubt it, its cheaper to scrap them.

Depending on the usage rate of the airplane, it may take 18 months or more to recoup the expense of a heavy check. If they plan to use it that much longer, it will be worth the expense.
