Boeing has run out of names for future planes
Just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on what the future Boeing aircrafts could be called?? as to date they only have one more card to play the 797.
any ideas? |
7XDud, perhaps?.

see, way back in prehistoric times when boeing was working on a SST, they called it the Boeing 2707.
so, I imagine Boeing will simply move on from there...the Boeing 2717, 2727, 2737,2747 and so forth. now, what would British Aerospace call their next plane? Oh, I know...non-existant. |
The 797 will be known as the Outsourcer.
As if it wasn't enough on the Flame changer. |
I don't recall a 717.

The 717 is the DC9/MD80/MD90.
My guess is they'll step up and start with 808, 838, 858 etc at some point. Or they'll start reusing old numbers and just make a new 737, new 707 etc. |
Better not have a wee shoogle with Google then, Phil ....;)

They'd already used up the 100s and 200s when they came up with the current system. However the 800 and 900 range are not asigned yet.

When Boeing eventually make the 7-Eleven they will complete the circle between pilot's full time and part time employment. :E

Let's not make assumptions.
A350 is progressing, 787 debacle is manna from heaven for someone who is already late for the party. 787 grounding and the subsequent investigation have serious implications for Boeing, their whole design/business model in particular is being heavily criticised. My view is that Boeing went a little too far outside their comfort zone as regards technological innovation on the 787. This view has also been bolstered by Boeing's own hype (and the pro-USA aviation media) on the 787 pre-introduction, Airbus's marketing on the A350 is more logical progression than quantum leap. Difficult to see this not impacting sales at a time when Boeing need to re-establish themselves, unless the 787 starts delivering - Boeing's next plane might be an if as opposed to a when. |
I thought the 717 was originally the MD95.

Middle digit is Hex. After the 797 will come the 7A7 :ok:
