Extra Fuel Calculation

I used to have a handy table for calculating how much extra fuel you require for your flight based on the TAF for the day. It took into account the chance for reduced visibility or thunderstorms during the day. Unfortunately I seem to have lost it.

Does anybody know where I can find a similar table? I have done a quick search here and also had a look on a few CAA websites without any success.

Thanks,

PJ

I wish it was that simple.
The amount of extra fuel (if any) I take will depend on a lot of factors besides just the weather. Local conditions like ATC, runway layout, traffic density, time of day etc.
I don't believe I've ever heard of a table like you mention.

Agree with seat 0A, I don't believe it's something you can reduce to an objective analysis like you suggest. It's much more subjective depending on multiple factors which need experience, knowledge and imagination to blend together in the right proportions on any given day. We used to call it airmanship LOL!

Our flightplanning system looks at the weather and our own company statistical data regarding delays for holding etc at that time of day.

It will then suggest a fuel figure.. of course it is upto the crew.

Actually our OFP's state the percentage of flights that completed the flight with no extra fuel.. To boost confidence in the flight planning system (LIDO)

As an old 747 Classic mate used to say:

"If I have to read the TAF twice, I add five tons!"
