Do you fly for Emerald?

Just a quick query.

How much truth is there in the rumour

'Emerald take on Barton's Instructors'

Is this true?
I know there is a strong link between the two!

Night Freight 1 11th September 2001 17:54

Yes they do employ Barton Instructors but just because you are from Barton dose not mean you will get in. They employ other people as well.

Pandora 11th September 2001 19:03

Yes they do employ other people but you could do a lot worse than hang around the clubhouse on an evening and catch them in for a drink if you are interested in that route.

Rob 747 11th September 2001 19:25

So i take it you two are both Emerald pilots!

Did you both Instruct at Barton?

What is it like flying the HS748?
My instructor was 'pally' with the Chief Pilot and he said that the planes are really old inside!

Dont worry though, im not like that!, If its got an engine and two wings then ill fly it for you!!!!!! :D  :D  :D

Pandora 13th September 2001 11:57

No Rob,
I'm not an Emerald pilot, but I did have several instructors during my time at Barton who all went the Emerald way. Then, went I went to Oxford on a cadet scheme, lo and behold the place was full of more Barton instructors doing things like Perf A before their Emerald interviews.

Cool!!

The rumour is true!!! :D  :D

What is life like at Emerald?
I know there is alot of 'mail flying', so does this mean alot of night flights?

What are the rosters like for a 'typical' day?
Are the HS 748's nice to fly?

Thanks for all your replies! :D :p :D

Can anybody confirm that Emerald are recruiting for shed drivers based at Exeter?

And if so, is it for the mail contracts operated by BAC Express and British European, or for different contracts?

Thanks
Worried Shed Driver!

Delta Wun-Wun 16th September 2001 17:06

They were running an advert for Sheds but they are to be based at Coventry for a contract they have there I think to eindoven.

UhrCleared-Takeoff 17th September 2001 02:34

That's correct, but in the information letter they've sent out, it also mentions likely bases as EGBE, EGAA, EGTE, EGGP and EIDW.
