Isle of Man Pilot licensing/certification
 

As the Island is not part of the UK, or EU does it have it's own requirements? All I can find is The Air Navigation (Isle of Man) (Amendment) Order 2008 No. 1487 and it seems, from having a shuftie around a few other websites, that most people there operate on UK CAA licences. The bit I'm looking at is under "other changes" 5.(4) (c).

So I wouldn't be able to get paid, or instruct. But could I, for example, operate IFR in a multi-engine airplane, purely as a way of getting some extra hours in and not be subject to JAA requirements?

All this is purely hypothetical, but I'm just intrigued as I'm the proud owner of some FAA certificates and due to being a good-standing, ex-military UK citizen, I'm having all sorts of hassle getting a Green Card to work over here in the States. I can't afford to convert everything to JAA and/or want to live/work in the UK anyway.

I was hoping by some freak stroke of luck that I'd be able to work there on my US certs?!

You'll struggle to rregister much under 5700kg, unless you live in the Isle of Man or the aircraft is owned by a IOM company.

They will happily validate your AMEL you just need someting to fly, give them a call

They will validate US or JAA licesnces but are registration specific so you need something to fly before getting a validation.
