Including simulator hours in total time?

Good evening all,

Love to hear your thoughts on whether you guys are including sim hours in your 'total time' so to speak in your CV or when applying for a job for example.

As a graduate of an integrated ATPL programme I have a lot of FNPTII hours plus many hours on Level D stuff also.

Obviously if I were to do this, it would be made clear that the sim hours were present in the total time after a breakdown of what the hours consist of.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Since you can include hours in the bunk, I don't see why hours working your nuts off in the simulator shouldn't count !

For upgrade of CPL/IR to ATPL you are allowed to include 100 hours only 25 of which may be FNPTII. I wouldn't include them in my total flying on my CV though. I suggest listing sim time separately separately. Best of luck with the job hunting.

I can see the 'idea' of the question, But I don't think our Good & Old CAA would allow you to log hours sat in a 'Sim'

Try not to let this 'Sim' business run away your aspirations.

Anyway,

Good luck.

Your total time is total flight time. Simulator time is not flight time.

I do log time in a simulator when training, for record keeping purposes. I do not include it in any totals, however. To do so, if nothing else, would lend to the impression that one were attempting to inflate one's qualifications and experience. A simulator is not an aircraft, nor does it fly, however realistic it may be. Time spent in one, accordingly, has no place being reflected in any totals in your loogbook. That includes total time, or any reflections of category or class...or instrument or night.

The last CAA UK log book I had provided a specific section at the back of the book for logging SIM time with no opportunity to carry the times forward to the flight time. Most employers would delete SIM time included in flight time when assessing your experience.

In reality, most would simply file the CV in the circular file, forthwith.
Good riddance.
