JAA Type Ratings to FAA Licence
Heard that the FAA will now transfer type ratings from a JAA ATPL to a FAA ATPL without any checkride - anybody have any confirmation of this?
Thanks |
Actually, the FAA has been doing this for quite sometime, under certain circumstances.
SQ for example has, in the past, made good use of this arrangement. SQ pilots are issued FAA licenses based upon their Singapore license, with the relevant type endorsed, and can fly those specific aircraft that retain FAA registration, which have been leased to that airline. |
Thanks 411A - but I also heard that they will now do it for any JAA ATPL holder regardless of which airline they are working for - have you heard that ?

Thanks "busmonkey" - have checked it out but it only refers to transferring ratings to a FAA PPL which is the old system - apparently they have changed the rules but can't find it anywhere
