Omega was switched off forever in the mid 90s. GPS superceeded it.

I'm very curious about old style navaids, Decca, omega, consul, still waiting for an old book on the subject to arrive, I love historical development in aeronautics especially from 1919 onward

With the current ability for one country in particular-NOW!!! [unnamed for int'l PC] to shoot down our Navstar constellation we may have to reinstate some of these old method-perhaps expand Loran-C coverage: though some longe range polar flights such as Antarctic region still require a navigator.

WAAS, LAAS and GPS are [or will be] wonderful, but I believe the FAA should think twice about its fury to phase out the VORTACs, NDBs and ILS's, although for the FAA 10 years is like microsecond:E
