SP MEP IR Question
If you hold an ATPL with a valid jet type rating and are current on a twin piston can you fly IMC/IR. Single Pilot?
Some one told me that you can fly IFR but not in Airways and the Minimums are higher!! |
tim,
you are almost right. if you hold a multi pilot IR, then you are deemed to have an implied UK IMC rating. that is, you can exercise the privilidges of an IMC rating but not an IR rating (cos you don't hold a Single Pilot IR). there is not much difference between the IMC and IR. can't go in class A, take off minimum of 1800m and there are advisory additions to instrument approaches. also, this is only valid in the UK airspace. many a IMC pilot has flown the ILS at Le Touquet only to find the DGAC at the end with a 1000 franc fine. |
Thank you very muchly

Unfortunatly it changed this year. And you have no rights to fly in IMC SEP on a multi crew IR.
You must get an IMC issued which will cost you money and also a flight check. And keep it valid. The new Lasors had the changes in it. The old CAA licenses have inbuilt rights which arn't changed. If you have a JAR license your knackard. The changes apparently are due to the lack of partial panel work in the multi crew LPC. After an accident the powers that be decided to change the rules after it was determined that the lack of partial panel work had been a factor in the crash. |
