Independent Parallel Runway Spacing
Can anyone point out where I can find info on how far apart runways have to be for independent ops in the UK. Cheers
|
I am looking for the same, also where can I find ICAO airport stds.
thks for any help |
It should be in ICAO Doc 9157, but which part i'm not sure!
|
Independent as in no vortex considerations?
I think it's 760m. |
Agreed - 760m for vortex purposes. 3nm separation still needs to be mantained between IFR flights though!
|
Independent as in capable of simultaneous operation so parallel approaches or take offs etc.
|
To be completely independent, 3 miles.
Of course, you can do simultaneous parallel approaches and departures on runways closer than 3 miles apart, but only with visual separation. |
We do parallel apps and deps all the time and in any weather.
Both rwys operate independently always here in Munich. They are 2300m apart. Merry X-mas WWW |
I believe there has to be at least 1525m between to parallel RWY's for independent operation. With less than 1525m but more than 915m one will have the usual spacing of 3 miles, but in addition 2 miles spacing between traffic on the two approaches.
