calculating night flying time
 

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how one would calculate night flying time.

I can manage to work it out flying round the circuit at the local airfield but how about going from london to turkey. Is it a function of lat/long and local sunset times?

Where you in the aircraft
Where you driving or at least reading the checklist?
Was it dark?
How long were you in the Air?
Enter that number.:p

Always, along with off/on chocks time (maybe rounded to nearest 5 minutes or 1/10 hour), if you are flying when it gets dark/light, note when you think it changes- that will do. It's nothing official, just estimate when you declare 'day' or 'night'. Round to 5 minutes or 1/10 hour if you wish.

I've been looking at some of these electronic log books and wondering how they work them out.

This may be highly controversial, but I log it as Day flying during daylight, and Night flying when it's dark. It aint rocket science.

A bit worried if I'm cheating during the full moon though:cool:
