Covert Australian ATPL to UK CAA ATPL

Before the UK joined the EU. IF one held an Australian ATPL with significant command and jet time on airline type aircraft, one only had to sit for about 3 exams to obtain a UK CAA ATPL. Is the present licence conversion the same as in the past?? Would appreciate some feedback.

When the UK CAA was a part of EASA or JAA, if a pilot had several thousand hours in command of a +30 tonne aircraft in primarily international operations, they only had to do a couple of exams.
Now... nope. UK CAA left EASA (silly decision IMHO) so unless you held an EASA ATPL issued by the CAA then you'll have to comply with this validation that lasts for a year.. (I am taking advantage of the year's grace to get my UK ATPL "back").
There's some information here but it's a bit thin.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if they will go back to past policies. Perhaps once the pilot shortage gets more acute and has negative effects on airline operations the CAA might revisit that policy.

Who knows what will happen next? I suspect when the pilot shortage does bite, they'll just request to rejoin EASA and tap into that large pool of pilots just over the Channel.
