A320 MEL
Hello Fellow Aviators,
I am a newbie to A320. I want to know more about the application of MEL on A320. Suppose in flight I get ECAM > NAV ADS-B RPTG 1 FAULT NAV ADS-B RPTG 2 FAULT essentially both ADS-B Reporting systems have failed. Then I applied OEBs - None // Tech Notices - None // ECAM - No Actions listed // QRH - Nothing in Abnormal PROC // Comp Reset - No System Reset Related to ADS-B OUT // FCOM Procedure says ATC/XPDR…SYS 2(1) however this is only for a Single system failure. Now I go to MEL 34-50-10 ADS-B OUT Function 34-50-10A Not required for the intended route 34-50-10B Required for the intended route In this, I apply 34-50-10 B which specifies that for airspace I am flying in it requires ADS-B Out functionality if I am flying RVSM. So do I need to Vacate RVSM? My understanding is MEL is applicable only ON GROUND from Door Closure till application of take-off Power. Then why would I refer and apply MEL in the air? |
Yes, MEL need not apply when airborne, but it can be useful to refer to for the notes, and possible operational procedures and consequences.
I would just inform ATC and follow their instructions. As long as you can maintain RVSM, and TCAS remains operational, I can't see a problem with continuing that flight? |
Just trot on further north-west until you leave the area of GPS-spoofing, problem solved.
