Chemtrailing more Covid19 fluid - I guess they'd noted a low local infection rate that would otherwise arouse suspicions.

Acknowledged ImPlaneCrazy, thanks :-) there were maybe 10 aircraft over the whole italian airspace at the time, and italy was a no go already on april 3 when i posted, all personal movements restricted to 200 meters from home, no activities allowed except for what deemed essential..and minor airports are closed..How did the crew manage to move around wherever they were based ?
90% of all flights cancelled, only Alitalia providing minimum service |
Could be mapping the ground perhaps? (photo or RADAR). Taking advantage of the quiet skies.

This type of question comes up about 3 times a week in this Forum. No, it is not a compass calibration, it is simply a survey, either using cameras, or more sophisticated sensors such as hyperspectral scanners, microwave scanners or Lidar. We have flown hundreds or even thousands of these surveys over Australia, at altitudes between 100m above terrain to 14km above terrain. Here is an example of the flighttrack we flew on Easter Monday over the burnt landscape of Kangaroo Island using Lidar, RGB-imagery and hyperspectral sensors.
