Most interesting "Time Building" Job for a USA CPL
Forgive me if this should be a spectator question, but it seems to fit here slightly better.
I am in an odd position professionally where, if I decided to become a professional pilot, most regionals would be a pay cut, but my job allows me to take a sabbatical (unpaid) after a number of years of service. I can't afford to take a year without any pay, but lately, as I have flown significantly less than I want to, I have been thinking about taking an 11-month pay cut to fly somewhere fun. I have read a bit about flying in Alaska, and that sounds like a good time, but I am wondering what other jobs exist that are more interesting than banner towing. I am especially curious about opportunities outside of the US. What's the coolest job you have heard about that you can do with a US CPL? What extra training would be involved? What hours requirements have you seen for those positions? And last, where are they located? |
Company in Alaska will take you with a CPL IR ME on a Beech 1900 turboprop. Donestic USA survey/mapping in a light twin. Outside USA: single pilot VFR freight out of Puerto Rico. Flying tourists in SW Africa. |
What companies run freight in PR? What hour requirements do they ask for?
