B737CL NON-EFIS SIMULATORS
Hello everyone. Does anyone know of any B737CL non-EFIS simulator that is still in use for training anywhere around the world. Thanks

Jet2 still have some analogue instrument -300s so they may have an appropriate SIM.

Jet2 never had analog 300s. |
Yes, there is a 737 classic full motion simulator at Lelystad aerodrome, not far from Amsterdam - I recently did my type rating in it. It has CRT PFD and ND, but ‘clockwork’ dial engine instrumentation. If you are still looking, let me know and I will try to dig out the contact details. |
Uplinker - the question was “are there any non efis simulators”, the sim that you used in Lelystad has efis therefore is of no use. Some early B733’s were made with “old fashioned” instrument panels rather than the EADI and EHSI, this is what glideslopealive is after. |
Next best thing would be to find an EFIS sim that stil has round dial ASI and leave it in a ‘dumbed down’ state, i.e. don’t use any of the map functions, just compass rose. When flying early 200 series, for six month recurrency we even went as far as to use an EFIS 300 with auto throttle and FMS de selected and derated the thrust to typical JT8 numbers. It was not ideal, but better than travelling half way around the world to find a real 200 box. We did the initial type rating and every second check in the approved 200 sim, but practically it made little difference that could not be covered during line training. The clockwork 300 is not all that different to the early EFIS bird. |
