Engine anti-ice on takeoff

Guys - Assuming ground OAT is +15c and my cloud ceiling is FL100 (where the oat is -4C), at what point do I turn on the Engine anti-ice? Is it prior to takeoff or during the climb?

Curious flight simmer, appreciate the help!

If there are icing conditions on the ground you'll turn it on after engine start. If not, and your aircraft doesn't have an automatic setting for the engine anti-ice, you turn it on entering icing conditions. Many aircraft have a max temperature for operating anti ice systems and it will be less than 15c.

Except on the Embraer 195 where use of the engine anti ice actually increased your MTOW. ;)

I can't remember the technical reasons as it's been over 6 years since I last flew one and it was all voodoo automatics anyway.

It was only a matter of 10 or 20 kilos but it definitely did increase it.

Perhaps FE Hoppy can clarify if he stumbles across this thread.
