Starting out - Australia

Hey Guys

So basically I'm 21y/o, live in Melbourne. I'm starting my RPL with Pearson Aviation and later on doing my CPL in MIldura to get C200 series hours (been told they are very valuable). I just have a few questions about getting my first job as a pilot:
How many how hours do you usually need for your first job?
How many hours does the average student have on completion of their CPL?
Is it necessary to have IFR?
Is the best way to go about getting a job driving up to NT and meet with chief pilots? That's what I have been lead to believe.

Also, please feel free to share your story on getting started as pilot :)

Thanks all!

Will

Guy will see you right on your initial training.

Suggest you post general Oz questions in D&G .. will give you more pertinent answers. Also some searches in D&G will give you many of the answers ahead of your questions.
