Re: L39 accident of 2/6/02

Is there anyone familiar with the details of the L39 accident of June 2, 2002? I understand that I should be responsible for my own research, but I'm just starting out and need as much help as possible.

Has anyone heard of any other incidents involving brake failure in an L39? Any ideas on what could cause brake failure on such a level?

Does anyone know what the RESAs are for Airfields similar to Duxford (i.e. small runway next to a major motorway)? Why must one wait until 2004 for the amended ICAO Standard to be put into practice? Any ideas on what type of RESA can be created at Duxford?

Thank you in advance for any help with my questions. Words cannot describe the grief this has caused for myself and my children... I need to understand what has happened and if possible find a way to prevent anything like this from happening again.

I kindly request No Surrender to refrain from replying to my queries; things are hard enough as it is.

I, like many others who knew Gary, am deeply saddened by this tragic accident. His boundless enthusiasm and friendliness amongst the aviation communities with which he was involved will be sourly missed.

I would like to support Tina's request in searching for insight into incidents such as this in the hope that lessons are learnt. As many of us are aware, PPrune is a powerful tool in resourcing information concerning particular events. If anyone has any constructive views or information please step forward and share them.
