Kegworth crash conspiracy.
Hi
I'm not sure we're to put this one so apologies if it doesn't belong here. I seem to remember that following the British Midland Kegsorth disaster there was a suggestion of some shady behaviour regarding tampering with some items in the cockpit immediately following the crash, before the AAIB could conduct their investigation. Does anyone have some info on what allegedly took place and fir what reason ? Thanks |
Immediately after the crash ATC phoned the company crew room to say what had just happened. A very senior Capt from an earlier inbound flight took the call & immediately jumped in his car & drove to the crash site to see if there was anything to do to help. The rescue was still unfolding. Capt Hunt of the crashed aircraft was severely injured & the crash rescue teams had to cut him out of the wreckage but didn't think he would necessarily survive so asked if the senior guy would go into the wreckage to offer 'moral support.' He didn't hesitate. The crash site was full of fuel, fire & electrical hazards but in he went. He supported Kevin Hunt until they got him out. People may have a conspiracy theory about a uniformed senior guy going into the crashed cockpit but clearly don't understand the science. If systems were switched to a more safe option that's allowed to save a further problem but I don't believe that happened.
I point out the evidence of the incident was clearly (within hours) determined via the condition of the Engine Fuel Nozzles, Combustion Chamber Condtion, Turbine/Fan Blade condition & finaly the FDR/CVR, none of which reside anywhere near the flight deck. |
a suggestion of some shady behaviour Jumbo's post is spot on. |
