Issuance of EASA atpl for JAR (UK) atpl

Hello all,

I'm in far east and want to replace my UK issued JAR atpl with an EASA atpl. I've called the CAA Gatwick just before they closed for the New Year's week and they said it was possible to come to the public counter and have one day replacement on my license on Friday the 2nd of January for example. Also it was not necessary for me to surrender my JAR atpl at that time.

My question is this: If I stay here in the orient can I have the UK CAA send me the license to a location here by sending them the £139 fee? If so how long do you think it will take for them to send it out because I am scheduled to take an EASA LPC on the 6th of January at BKK.

Many thanks for any information.

I suggest you spend some time looking carefully at the UK CAA website to find the answers.

Homework In Progress

I was going to suggest you do some homework, but you're already doing that. My best-guess is to consult you home/original certificate authority, as well as the authority for the one you want - and ASK You are not the first and will not be the last to ask about certificate conversion options. Just as words of caution; 1) Always keep your logbook current in every detail and 2) Never relinquish your original Airman's Certificate. When requesting authority to fly in a foreign region, when granted, this right becomes additional, not a replacement for your original certificate. Copies are fine and usually required, but never part with your original certificates. Best wishes, airman of many certificates...

You need to get another English of Aviation Certificate which means you need to be tested by a UK CAA approved Examiner.(list in their website).
When you have that they will mail you your EASA licence with your rating as "previously held rating"

In order to use the rating privilege, you will need to go through a UK TRTO that will decide,if your IR lapsed,on how many hours you need of ground school/simulator before your IR check.
If you are current on the same type, then they should give you only a max of 3-4 hours.(1-2 hours training followed by the check).
A TRTO training completion certificate will be issued and you will then need to mail it to the UK CAA along with the usual fees.

You need to get another English of Aviation Certificate
Presumably you mean a demonstration of English language proficiency as required by FCL.055?

"....which means you need to be tested by a UK CAA approved Examiner"
How do you know that the OP is not already at Level 6? In any event, is it that only a UK examiner can assess ELP? (hint: the answer isn't "Yes")

In order to use the rating privilege, you will need to go through a UK TRTO
TRTOs do not exist any more. You should now be referring to an ATO.

A TRTO training completion certificate will be issued...
See comment above.
