LVO and UK licence
 
Hi everyone,

I hold an EASA licence, issued by UK CAA.
Just got my A320 type endorsed on it, previously I was flying a different type. During type rating I haven't done the LVO part, since it will be done with the company I am working for.

I've been told that I have to get my licence endorsed with the LVO after doing the sim check with my current operator and to do so I should send to Gatwick another SRG 1158 form, this time with only section 6 (LVO) filled out. I heard I should also pay 89GBP but I couldn't find any information regarding this matter.

I know other CAA's don't require this LVO thing, but seems like UK CAA does.
Anyone can give me a hint about the correct procedure?

The UK CAA doesnt care if you have LVO for your rating issue.It is a company requirement and no form is required to be sent.

Thanks de facto, this is what I thought as well, that's why I was quite surprised.

But wwhen I've been to Gatwick last month, the lady at the counter after giving me my new licence with A320 type rating on it, told me I have to send the papers again after the lvo training and pay 89£ for it.

The problem is that I didn't find this written anywhere. There's nothing written about LVO to be endorsed on my licence, the same about payment, no info at all.

She told me is something related to EASA but I don't see why UK CAA should be the only authority asking for this procedure.

I could try to give them a call but I am quite sure I'd get the same result. My company just told me I have to send the skill test form with section 6 filled out after the lvo check but of course they can't know about UK CAA "special" procedures.

Lets put it that way,i fly lvo with my current airline,and i have never sent any form to the uk caa.
I also have a uk EASA issued licence and they never told me to get the lvo form sent to them,again it could have changed since then but i doubt.

Payforlife,

I too have an A320 rating on a UK EASA licence and under remarks for it then 'LV' is listed. So I'm guessing that technically your paying the charge for this small amendment. Whether that is a requirement or not I couldn't say.

Thanks guys for your replies. The Lady in Gatwick told me that is a new requirement, related to EASA, but I don't see why other authorities don't have this problem.

It's good to know Mopas that at least something like that exists. I am sure that if I would have done the LVO training during my type rating, now I'd have something like you in my remarks. The thing is, my LVO was schedule to be done with the operator, so in Gatwick they didn't add this expensive remark.

Just a slight detour from this topic... I am trying to find the correct form from the CAA website for a sim check.

It's not a new rating, just for a 'standard' sim check. I can't seem to find the form my employer will need to complete.

Can anyone help?

You want A320/IR/LV Apparently a new thing. I guess just follow what they say.

Standard OPC/LPC according to CAA/JAA standards.

Tom, I have to bring it myself, which is why I'm asking. Do you reckon that is the name of the form?

Hi MD11Man,

I am sorry, my fairly pointless comment was to the original poster. I take it you are working at a foreign airline (well assuming your profile is correct) and trying to get a TRE to sign something to send to the UK CAA to keep your EASA licence up to date? Correct?

I don't know.. however I hope a TRE will be along to help you; otherwise the UK CAA are good on the phone, so I would phone them.
