Jeppview
Can someone explain what is Jeppview exactly? Is it a CD? And what is the difference between jeppview and Jepp FD and jepp TC?
|
To my knowledge there are at least two versions of JeppView. On-line and one in a CD format. As for coverage areas the only one's I have worked with are world wide but there may be smaller versions confined to just Europe or N. America that cost less.

JeppView is an electronic/digital version of the Jeppesen Airways Manual suite. Delivered initially by CD, it contains the program/browser to open terminal charts, approach charts, enroute charts, etc. Regular updates can either be downloaded via the www, or installed from regular CDs received in the mail. At least here in Australia, a JeppView subscription comes with 4 installation keys.
Jeppesen TC is an iPad/Android App that by using one of the 4 installation keys, allows the downloading of the terminal and approach charts that one subscribes to. These can then be displayed as required on ones device. Jeppesen FD is similar to the TC version except that it also displayes enroute charts, high & low. Early experience with Jeppesen TC & Jeppesen FD was that if one had both Apps (the Apps are free, not so the JeppView subscription) they would not update properly as they'd conflict with one another. So in essence, once you subscribe to JeppView (runs on Windows only), you can use additional licence keys to install (download only) Jeppesen FD or TC on your iPad or Android. |

But, I can (and on occasion do) move one of my keys from my notebook to my iPad (in the FD app). Also many major airlines have access to a closed portal on the Jeppesen website that provides access to electronic en route and terminal charts for the entire world. It's a download one chart at a time format, so it is of limited use. (mostly used by dispatch departments.) |

When you subscribe and get 4 keys. Is it allowed to use one key for more than one PC/iPad?
|
You can't use one key for more than one device, that's the point of having keys. When you load a Jepp app onto a device and register it with one of your keys, that key is "used up" and can't be used again unless you de-register the device tied to it.

Thank you guys... But what do you think is better for iPad .. Jeppesen TC or Jeppesen FD?
|
Do you want maps or no maps? FD has the enroute charts with some basic flight planning functions while TC just has the approach plates and AIP.
FD has everything that TC has so I don't see any reason to just have TC. |
Thanks for the clear explanation Capt Claret!
I've been asking the same question myself and tried to find the answer on Jeppesen's web site. I've found it almost impossible to navigate and it is filled with marketingspeak and few hard facts about their products. |

I don't know, I use the IOS version.

Jeppview world wide $11,600
The last time I checked, the price for a world wide version of Jeppview is $11,600 for the 4 keys.

So jeppview comes in different sections/regions? Same as the Air manual?

Yes!

Installing JeppView on a machine with no DVD drive
Anyone can lead me to a solution? I need to install Jeppview on a new machine running windows 10. The installation disc is in France where our previous office was and new computers are in Malta...I can have the disc delivered here however the new PC's do not have a DVD drive. As far as I can see only 2 solutions, either courier the disc down to Malta and transfer to an external hard drive or USB stick and install from there or buy an external Optical reader and install from the DVD accordingly.
I am wishing someone can lead me to a link where I can download the Jeppview v.5 online and not go through all the hassle of shipping discs. Jeppesen do not offer a link to an online dowload. |
